2016 AWD Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum - final price advice

I have received a quote for a 2016 AWD Toyota Highlander Limited Platinum edition for $41700 OTD (MSRP $46610), is there still room for further negotiation? I have placed a deposit on it as it will not come in until mid January 2016 but would like to see if there's more room to further decrease the OTD price. The dealership said that there's very few of these vehicles around but of course it may be a sales line. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Highlanders are quite popular so there isn't a tremendous amount of discounting available.

Dealers like deposits because it causes buyers to stop shopping. So keep shopping and if you get a better quote, ask for your deposit back. Hopefully it's a refundable one.

Yes, it was a refundable deposit. Is this another car salesman tactic for a switch and bait?

Not so much a bait and switch tactic but more of a way to take you out of the market so you won't shop around for a better deal. They don't have the car yet and are trying to get you to commit to the one that's coming in.

Nothing really nefarious about that, especially when the deposit is refundable. There have been a few cases where people start calling and asking where there new car is only to find out that "another" salesperson sold it (for more money) to someone else.

But don't mind me, I'm kind of paranoid about dealers. Getting better though. :)

@Michaell nailed it - it's a supply thing until the inventory levels go up and if you get antsy and cancel your deposit, you may have trouble finding another Highlander like you want.

Hi, I am also looking to buy a 2016 highlander limited platinum. If you already took delivery of your car at the posted price, would you mind sharing the dealer info. Where are you located.
Out here platinums are MSRP 48k and selling is close to $45k + ttle
