Very interesting comparison. Ford put a great deal of effort into making a world class sports car that could stand on its own in the United States and overseas. Regardless of which car is ultimately better, a comparison to the fantastic F-Type is a victory for the Mustang and vindication of Ford's efforts.

I would go with the Mustang. I'm more about "Go" than "Show." The Jag is for the people who want to be noticed. The Mustang is for those that accept they will be noticed, but want performance.

The F-Type is stunning to look at, but in most other ways I find it extremely disappointing. Even with the V8 it strikes me as a car that is half-baked and not fully deserving of its price. The most glaring fault to me is the interior. The F-Type and 'Stang probably have roughly the same interior quality. That's fine for a reasonably priced muscle car, but a British high end sports car? Absolutely not. I also hate how completely impossible it is to drive an F-Type cleanly. I love tail-out antics, but that shouldn't be the car's only behavior. Reminds me of old AMGs and I didn't like those much either.

The better question is why choose an F-Type over the still cheaper and yet even more powerful GT350?

Unless Jaguar gets its butt in gear, the Mustang won't have to compete anymore, because Jaguar will be out of the lux car market. The new Jaguar SUV is no accident, and the XE suggests more sober spending than the F Type.

Wow. Ringing endorsement of the Stang. Honestly, it seems if you are a driving enthusiast, the Stang is a better choice, and thats before the aftermarket kicks in which in the case of the Stang is much larger (not that Jag owners do any aftermarket work anyway)

I'd say the interiors are pretty comparable - the Jags interior is certainly no leather everything lined Bentley or Merc (not that a lot of folks care of that in a sports car anyway).

Voting for the Mustang also. The Jag and most other European products are more about the badge and name rather than the machine. You could buy a Mustang and a Camaro for the price of one of those other cars.
