    10K miles, 24 months

    Thanks.

I am looking to lease a 2007 328xi in the next couple of weeks and have gotten quotes from a couple dealers thus far. I am interested in doing a European delivery and this is what I've been quoted:

    MSRP: $50,515 (fully loaded except 18" wheels/tires)
    Capitalized Cost: $47,000
Down Payment: ($8,724.34 (Includes title, tax, tags, destination, security deposit, and first two months payment)
    Monthly payment: $611
    Money Rate: .00335 or 8.04%

The money rate seemed kinda high to me just based on my own research online but they said it was because I was doing a European delivery. Is this a good deal or do you think I can do better if I shopped it around some more. With European delivery I get $2,595 off the North American MSRP. The invoice for a North American 328xi fully loaded is about $46,500. So the price doesn't seem too bad although I'd like to see if I can get lower. It the money factor that I'm most concerned about. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated from anyone.

    Thanks!

    A) The best deals are usually through BMW's captive finance company, BMWFS..

    B) Most X3 leases will be around $11.50-$12.50 per thousand of MSRP per month... (40K MSRP = $460-$500 per month..+ tax)

    C) Check out BMW X3: Lease Questions

Hi kyfdx -- Interesting comment on the range per thousand of MSRP for X3 leases. What's your advice on the best way/best month to go for a lease deal on an X3 in order to capture the lower end of that range, especially in light of the upgrade that BMW is supposedly doing on the '07 X3?
    Thanks!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,571
At this point, I'm wondering if there might be some dealer incentives on the '06s starting in October, because the '06 and '07 lease program have virtually the same money factors and residuals.. (no idea if there really is).

The key to getting a good lease deal on the '06 is to get a price near dealer cost, and getting the base rate on the money factor... The residual for the '06 X3 is 65% for 3yr/45K.. That is ridiculously high, considering how late it is in the year..

For example, an '06 X3 with MSRP of $43K, and a selling price of $40K, would have a payment of around $486/mo.+tax.. That is with just 1st pymt, security deposit and title/license upfront.. 3yr/45K.

More good info!! You should think about doing this for a living.....

So $486 means they're using a .00195 MF, correct? Is that the current base rate? Not bad. Especially if the MFs and residuals are the same for both the '06s and '07s, as you say. Guess I'd better check Prices Paid and see what kind of a deal one could get on an '07. Do you think you could get 50% of the spread off on the '07 now, given the fact that they're new, and improved?

I recall finding a post from you on 2/23/06 where they were using a .00125 MF at the time, but a 58% residual, I believe. Do you recall why the MF dropped down so low at that time? Is that historically typical for BMW, or more a function of then current market conditions? I'd really like to hold off and get an '07 in 3-4 months, but one never knows what the winds will bring in the car business, does one? What would you do, knowing what you know?

Lastly, do most of the manufacturers establish a money factor at the beginning of the calendar month and stick to it throughout that month? If you tell us certain MFs and residuals are in effect will they typically last through the end of that calendar month?

    Thanks!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,571
    1) I think BMW lease deals tend to be the best in February and March, generally... Just anecdotal evidence, though..

    2) Usually a lease program will stay the same all month, unless it is improved.

    3) The 65% residual on the '06 X3 is probably in lieu of dealer cash incentives, now that I think about it.. At some point, though... the lease deals on the '06 will disappear... If there are any left, they'll probably put dealer cash on them, and then the only good deals will be on purchases..

    4) Yes, I figured that lease with .00195 MF and 65% residual.

I am ordering a 530i as soon as I find a dealer that is a straight shooter.........but i was going to be charged l200 for automatic....when you build a BMW on the BmW site that is an option. So where did you see that it isn't an option? I don't want to pay for something if it isn't an option? thanks for the info.

Leased an 2007 X3 for 1074.52 down and 614.00 per/mo for 24 months. It was 601.00/m for 3 yrs and 607.00/m for 30 months. But Sales person said why go for 30 months, you'll pay for registration for half a year and lose the rest.

I have most every option but stayed away from the sport package, to stiff of ride although some may like it. Excellent power from the new engine. Only a few out on the lots at several dealers. I had to order one due to all the options. Price was 47,895.00MSRP but was able to get it for 45,595.00. :shades:

About to lock in the following '07 X3 lease:

    MSRP= 44,500
    Price = 42,100
    24 mos/10k miles
    3K down/acq. cost of 825
    Payment = 329/mo.(plus 5% Mass tax)=345/mo.

This seems like a very good deal-is it??????

btw: car is base X3 with premium pack plus heated ft. seats and wheel w/metallic pt.and rivacy glass.

Not sure about the money factor-looks like it needs to be .00075 using a residual of 78%-is this possible?

    What am I missing here?

Supposed to sign today-thanks for any help!

dtm1. You don't say where you live, or if this is an after tax figure. If you live in California, and use the base 7.75% tax rate, then the selling price would be $44,810 to arrive at a payment of $582.27 including 7.75% tax. That's $485 off of MSRP. You can probably do better. Ask your sales person what the selling price is.

I need advice!! I was looking to lease and decided to purchase a 2007 X3 BMW. This is the deal I was offered.
Leather, Heated Seats, Xenon, Privacy Glass, Metallic Paint, Ipod adapter. $40,278. Do they have room to come down much more?
Wish I could get them to throw in the Sports Package!!
Leasing would be great, but I won't be in this state for more than 1 1/2 years.
    I appreciate advice!
    Thank You

That seems like a fair price.

Here's my 2007 X3 and you can compare:
    $47,895 (MSRP)
    Silver/Gray Metalic Sand/Beige/Black Nevada Leather.
Premium Pk w/comfort seats,Xenon,Park Distance, premium sound, 18" Whheels, Servotronic steering, heated seats, tint, navigation.

    $45,595
    24mo/lease
    12k miles

1074.52 which includes first months payment.

    Base Payment 614.37/mo
    Monthly California Tax 50.69
    Total 665.06

    Residual: 36,879.15

After my deal was done I realized I have to purchase Sirius Satelite. I wish I would of read the fine print about the Satelite. Then I would have negotiated better. :shades:

Based on a few posted comments, it appears that people are special ordering the X3 at about a 5% discount off the MSRP. Is that a fair expectation? I'm in Maryland, and would be interested if anyone local has gotten a similiar or better deal and where. Thanks.
  • xchicagoan5xchicagoan5 Member Posts: 46
There seems to be a fair amount of 2006 X3s on the market with 2007s arriving and being sold or presold. Back in 2001, I bought my X5 4.4i this way. I waited until the initial model year run was over and got a great deal. What kind of deal can I expect to get on a 2006? The deals seem to be fairly good on the 07s - well below MSRP in many cases. An 06 deal should be great, shouldn't it?

What money factor are you using?
  • jeffxpjeffxp Member Posts: 33
I'm not sure about the money factor. I know what the msrp is and what my monthly is going to be. Would that come from my sales person or is it a calculation of the numbers I've shown you? :confuse:
  • blundblund Member Posts: 6
Actually both. Based on what you said I calculated a pretty high rate (if I did it right). I have read other posters say they have a rate of .002 (4.5%). I paid a bit over this w/ my lease (probably dealer took the spread). Anyway, you can ask the dealer and he should tell you what rate they are using.
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
hey jeff......I just ran the numbers for your deal on my trusty spreadsheet, and assuming that they wrapped the normal acquisition fee of $625 into your lease, and you made no down payment (which you couldn't have given your drive off $), then they calculated your lease using a money factor of .00271. This is .00071 higher than their .00200 "buy rate" on the money factor, so this means they are making a profit of $58.97 per month on the financing. Over 24 months that's a total of $1,415.

Had they used their "buy rate" of .0020 your pretax payment would have been $555.40 plus tax of $45.82. Total of $601.22.

They knocked $2,300 off MSRP for you and then made $1,415 of that discount back on the financing. You could have done a lot worse.

Look at your lease docs. It should say what Acq fee they used and rolled into your lease. If it's higher than $625 then you'd have to adjust the money factor down until you got to the right payment.

    Hope that helps.
  • jeffxpjeffxp Member Posts: 33
Thanks for the calculations. I did put $1074.52 down which $665.06 was part of first months payment. Those sales people are tricky. She said here's the price we are selling it to you for: $45,595 or $665.06/mo includes tax, 8.25% Then when she printed it on paper the
    GRS CAP Cost 46,520.00
    ADJ Residual 36,879.15
    Tot Term Dep 9,640.85
    Monthly Dep 401.70
    MO lease charge 212.67
    Est fees/term 712.75
    Total payments 15,961.44
    1st yr fees 360.75

:confuse: That's not the hard part, waiting until January to cruise around in my X3 is tuff! :shades: I hope these figures can help others to a better deal.

    jeff
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
Jeff........That's the info I needed! It works out to the penny now that I see what they did. They marked up the 625 acq fee to 925. (45,595 + 925 = 46,520). They used a money factor of .00255, which makes your pre-tax payment exactly 614.37. So they made a quick 300 on the acq fee and 1100.88 on your financing. Same 1400 as before, just a little faster to them.

What city and dealer was this? That's what will help others.

What the hey....it's only money. Enjoy it when it gets here. In the meantime, get yourself three walnut shells and a pea, practice a little, and win some of it back when you take delivery.

Hi all.....i am new to the board. I would appreciate everyone's advice.

I spoke with the internet manager for a bmw dealership in nj. I am interested in a 2007 x3 with the following packages: Premium, Privacy glass, heated front seats, auto trans.

I was quoted 469/mo (plus 9% PA tax, I live in PA), so that would be approximately 511/mo with $2400 down total. He originally mentioned 2800 down but told me he "discounted that by 400". He also stated that there would be no acquisition fee for the vehicle. That is for a 36 mo. lease with approximately 12k miles/yr. The 10k./year lease would be about 20/mo less.

Could i get a few opinions on this deal? Do i have any negotiating room?

Also, I have heard that if i was in the middle of the lease and found that i was "over" on the miles, that i could purchase more miles from BMW financial. Is this true and how much would this cost? I am trying to determine which option is cheaper.

    Thanks, AL

This is the best I found in the LA area from 4-5 dealers. This is my first lease, so I don't know most of the technicalities. Appreciate it if somebody could comment on how this sounds. The invoice looks to be about 44,900, so it's about 1200 over invoice, seems reasonable, most were discounting $1k-2k off msrp.

    TOTAL AS EQUIPPED
    $48,870.00
    SELLING PRICE
    $46,125.00
    Term
    36 Months
    Mileage
    15,000 /year
    Residual Value
    $31,765.50
    Cash Due at Signing
    $1,602.87
    Monthly Payment
    $539.86
    Tax (8.25%)
    $44.54
    Total Mo. Payment
    $584.40

    Thx

I am in Baltimore and all the dealer was willing to offer off the purchase (not lease) of an X3 speced at $44,095 was $1,200. Is this reasonable? I am looking for about $2,200 off.
  • jeffxpjeffxp Member Posts: 33
It's always a challenge to get the best deal but 1200.00 below MSRP feels good to me... We sometimes feel we should get a vehicle under msrp especially when we are financing and money is of concern, ( and we are not filthy rich).
The challenge is real and if you want more off just go to another dealer and see what you can accomplish. no matter what happens you can be assured you'll enjoy the ride. Jeffxp

Which dealer in NJ offered that to you? What was the MSRP and residual value? Did he give you the money factor? Again, which dealer and city/township?
  • wmdavis1wmdavis1 Member Posts: 14
I am looing at taking advantage of the ED program. My car specs at $38,305 invoice, $41435 MSRP (plus mats state side at $148). My target price is $40K. This seems reasonable to me, however, on another post someone stated that I should have to pay no more than $800 to $1,200 above invoice ($39,500 tops here). Is $1,700 above euro invoice ($1,435 below MSRP)a good deal? I don't have a trade and am not doing financing thru dealer, so they have no other way of making profit from me.

    Hi,

Looks like I got a bad deal here, which is $1300 off of MSRP ($42620).

    I already put $1000 down.

What should i do to save more before finalizing the deal?

Any sugestion would be appreciated very much!

    Thanks.
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
DP.....the math is right, within a couple of dollars, so you're OK there. Looks like a sweet deal. You did say "include acq fee" and then also said "BK fee 625 additional" which is a little confusing. The acq fee IS the bank fee. I assumed you were paying that separately, so I used 41011 as the cap cost.
  • billmvbillmv Member Posts: 148
pax3....two things: 1) grind as much as you can off the MSRP because that's the number they'll use in their lease calcs, and 2) make sure you get them to NOT mark up the money factor over what they pay for it from BMW. And also not mark the acq fee over $625. Three things.

dollar pound got his dealer to use a .00153 money factor, which is very good. That must be what BMW is charging their dealers in December. Anybody know otherwise?

The dealer cannot control the residual % for the term and miles you want, or the MSRP.

Good luck! Let us know how you did.
  • pax3pax3 Member Posts: 3
    Hi billmv,

    Thanks for the reply.

I am actuall buying not leasing.

They asked me to put $1000 down because they needed to get the car from some other place so it takes a few days. But i need to pick up the car and finalize the paper work once the car arrives.

Guess it's too late to cancel it?

What could i do to make the deal a bit better before finalizing it?

    Thanks.

pax3.....Guess I should have looked at which forum I was on. Dollar pound gave me a head fake when he asked lease questions in post #1263, and I went for it. Sorry.

Have you agreed on a selling price with the dealer? I would be surprised if they would do a dealer transfer (which does cost them a little $$) without having a firm deal with a customer. If you think your deal is pretty decent, based on what you've seen in this forum, then go ahead and finalize it. Why cancel?

If you're beginning to think you could do better at another dealer, then get a price from another dealer and let your dealer know you're getting uncomfortable with your current deal. Show the first dealer something in writing from the second dealer. Maybe they'll match it if they think you'll really walk.

I do not know what rights you have re getting your $1,000 back if you do walk. Probably depends on what it was you signed when you gave them the check. You give up a lot of negotiating strength when you hand over $1,000 and THEN want to renegotiate the price. What's their incentive to come down?

    Good luck!

    Here's my negotiated deal:

    MSRP 43,420 & Selling Price 41,380
    36 Months and 12,000 Miles
    Residual 67% & Money Factor .0015
    Fees 1,011 (261 Gov't, 625 Acq, 125 Doc)
$$ Down 4,411 (Plus a check for 400 Sec Dep and 1st Month)
Monthly Payment $353.37 (No tax - trade in)

It's OK. Anything I am missing? Gonna try to get the price down another $200-300 as there are lots of X3's around :)

I am very interested in the 07 X3 and specifically the Navigation and heated seats as options. Any ideas on what would constitute a "good" deal (i.e., how much off MSRP?) with the features that I mentioned? I want to purchase within the next 24 - 48 hours and take advantage of the dealer's deadline of moving cars for year end 2006.
