Seen last week: 2011 Ford Explorer. White. Pretty sharp for that class of vehicle.

Also saw the 2011 Acura TSX wagon in blue in a parking lot. About the same size as the previous gen Outback/Legacy wagon. Black leather. Nice to see a new wagon hitting the market.

Shame Honda shelved their excellent diesel for this dumbed down market too.

On my way home from work last night. Appeared to be a 6-cylinder version given away by the single tailpipe. Looked great btw, even in a sedate white.

I sort of like it too, but that's the sort of color that gets attention when the car is new, but is hard to re-sell later on.

Spotted two black Audi A8s following each other while traveling east on the PA Turnpike from Harrisburg to Philly.

    On the way home, today....

I'm sorry... not too many angles available for this car to look good... and, I'm a big Porsche fan.. It looks pretty good from straight-on (like, behind you in your rearview mirror)... Otherwise (and I hate to say it), you might as well get a Cayenne... :(

Saw a Fiesta sedan in a Ford dealer lot while driving on the eastern shore of MD.

That's Ford country, because I swear, I must drive by a dozen Ford dealers on that 3 hour trip. No kidding.

Also saw a Q5 this morning. Sharp looking, like a blazer in navy.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
There's another Fiesta sitting at my local dealer now, white. All have been hatchbacks. The grey one is gone...maybe it sold...hopefully.

First one I've seen on the road. A white 4 door. Looks good.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
surprisingly roomy and upscale interior too. I am curious as to how they drive.

Still, the way I would configure it (SEL hatch, DSG, moonroof but cloth seats w/o un warmers), the sticker is $19,500ish. Probably not a whole lot of discounting at this point, so say 19K purchase price.

You can get a lotta used car for 19K if you look around.

Was behind a brand new Silverado dually in traffic yesterday. This thing still had the stickers on it, not sure if it was a test drive or a delivery but I got a hell of a laugh.

Stuck in traffic, following this thing (which btw looks absolutely stupid from the back, thing is wider than an 18 wheeler and barely fits in the highway lane, but I digress). Anyways, so I followed this thing for about a mile and all of a sudden it comes to yet another stop, and three of the lugnuts drop out from the passenger rear wheel. Literally, they just "plink plink plink" like jacks.

If the traffic wasn't moving I was going to jump out and grab them. Not sure if the rest of them fell off or they lost a wheel or anything as immediately afterwards they sped off down the breakdown lane and got off the next exit.

My wife and I were cracking up after that one. :D

It's pretty obvious how popular the new Sienna is but I noticed over the weekend that maybe 2/3's of the Sienas I saw were SE models.

Maybe the trim package wasn't such a foolish idea afterall... :shades:

...silver Buick LaCrosse travelling NW on Martins Mill Road at Bingham in NE Philly.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I've seen more than a few of those also.

I think at first they didn't make the SEs, so those only started selling recently.

That makes it even more impressive.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw two of these this weekend.

Not diggin' the sagging rear. Not as sharp as the outgoing models. Previous model was a tough act to follow, to be fair.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Saw a CTS coupe driving down my street around 0530 this morning. Also saw a new 5er (F10) last night, a couple of new style 7ers, and a W212 E-class.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
5 door in "Bright Magenta Metallic". I'd say it's half way between red and purple, pretty bold color.

Drove it! A co-worker bought it. Auto base model. Here's my mini-review:

Black CR-Z on the lot at Cambridge Honda near Boston. Didn't stop to check it out because it was after midnight and there was a cop on duty in the parking lot watching passers by. But the profile is pretty cool. :shades:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Saw a CRZ at the independent little Honda dealer here in podunk
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I hate reading reviews on that thing.

Mag editors wring the heck out of it and then complain that they're "only" getting 35.1mpg or whatever.

Gimme a break. What did they expect? Driving style has everything to do with your mpg results.

New body style Audi TT coupe.. really like the way these look..

Some sort of special edition Boxster.... with Speedster humps and different bumpers/trim... Supposed to look like an old 550... license plate was DEAN 550

And, last.. and least... I finally saw the only good angle for a Panamera... directly from behind about 50 yards back.. Actually looks like a nice GT car from that angle... Any other look is nausea inducing....

That's called the Boxster Speedster, I believe. Also saw one of those in the garage at work.

Also saw a new S60 in the wild last weekend. Doesn't stand out as much as I thought it would after seeing it at the auto show earlier this year.

Yep, likely that was the lightweight Boxster Speedster. Those Porsche guys are clever; they subtract the air con, power top and some other stuff from the Boxster S to save weight and charge more. :confuse:

That's like charging more for a Bud Light than for a regular Bud.

PS- I like the Panamera from every angle but directly behind...go figure. :shades:

    Ahhh..

Looks like they decided to call it a Spyder, rather than Speedster..

    Porsche Boxster Spyder

It does have 10 HP more than the -S- model...

RE: Rear view of the Panamera... From farther back... still not sure I like the rear view from up-close.. I guess the head-on view isn't bad, either.... Any sort of angle, though.... and I get queasy... ;)

My bad, Spyder it is. I'm guessing they'll save the Speedster name for the Porsche version of the Volkswagen Blue Sport

Panamera looks fine from the front, but the profile is bad the rear view is frightening.

A long car without a trunk looks odd, the proportions are bulbous, strange.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I've seen a bunch of these before, but a friend from out of town was visiting and rented one of these, so I sat inside.

No surprises, it's a cheap car so the interior is cheap. I can't stand the center mounted gauges and neither could he and his wife. Every surface is hard, as expected.

In this class I'd pick a Fiesta or Fit by a wide margin over the Yaris.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw one last night, then another one this morning. So far I think I've seen 4 of these on the road, and they just look great.

Perhaps the most improved player for 2011.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
On my morning walk/jog, I saw two of those being unloaded from the truck. They really do look so much better, and I have read almost nothing but raves about them. Maybe Chrysler isn't dead yet.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It looks like an executive's SUV, as it should. The Benz bones don't hurt.
  • ajvdhajvdh Member Posts: 223
From dead-on front, it looks enough like a 911. From any other angle, it's not good looking, IMO.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Yeah, it's like seeing that hot girl you used to know from high school, then getting close and realizing she's 7 months pregnant.

Did I just say that out loud? ducks and runs...
  • euphoniumeuphonium Member Posts: 3,425
Yes you did, but why that analogy?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The Panamera has that hump-back, that makes it look like a sedan with a swollen mid/rear section.

Almost makes me want to yell, "Sanctuary!".

Saw a W212 E-class wagon today, I think the first I have seen in NA. Also saw a new E63.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
2 new Swagger Wagons (Siennas). One in my work garage.

2 new Kia Sportages. First was well equipped and looked nice. 2nd was a bare-bones base model in white and it just looked cheap. Plastic bumpers, no roof rack, no rear spoiler, IIRC no window tint. Looks "naked". Funny to see how equipment levels affect the overall look so much.

Cooper Clubman. Let's see when the Countryman models start showing up.

The funny one was a Porsche Panamera. I only got a split second glance of the back in traffic, and at first I thought it was an Infiniti EX35! LOL

Funny because one's a crossover and the other is a sedan, yet both have the bulbous rear and that threw me off.

    I realize that's a stretch:

    well, kinda, sorta.

was watching an episode of wheeler dealers (set in Britain), and mike was driving an Accord wagon. man, that was a nice looking, nice sized, well designed looking car.

Too bad they are only going to sell it as a tarted up, AT luxo barge wanna be Acura.

I posted this a few weeks ago, but I actually saw the TSX wagon in person in dark blue. I'd love to have one. Very nice looking car, but yeah, I fear it will be too spendy when it finally hits showrooms. They will get loaded with options, dealers will be cautious and only bring in a few, no one will deal on them because of the 'rarity' and in 2 years they will pull it from the market because they didn't sell. And once again, the industry will say "See? Americans don't like wagons."

Not that I'm skeptical or anything...

Not new, but newish and odd - Buick Lacrosse Super. I assume those are pretty rare.

Saw a 2011 Grand Cherokee on the road too.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
are the new ones out yet? Went by a ford dealer todya, and they had an SUV that I did not recognize up on ramps out front. DId not get a great look (distance and driving), but kinda looked like the new truck.

2 this weekend and 1 driving into work this morning. All of them were black...

Others spotted, a new Jeep GC, new Kia Sportage, countless new Sonatas, bunch of "swagger wagon" Sienna's, few new Taurus's and a couple of new Infiniti M's.

Also, not so new but I've seen a lot more Infinti EX models lately. Been shopping them myself and they are taking as much as 6500 bucks off the top which makes them quite the bargain... 300hp, AWD, great handling, comfortable seats, very nice interior. :shades:

Looks great in photos and in person. No need to grow on you, any angle looks good, too.

    Pleasant surprise.
