The XLz look good with big rims, but the base models look really miserable for some reason.

Today saw a Gallardo in black. Same area where I saw the Muricelago a few days ago.

Geeze, the Caddy owners have extremely bad taste where you live. Fortunately, this stuff is becoming rare around me. I was looking at a tastefully appointed DTS in "White Diamond" for myself when took my Seville for an oil change and emmissions/inspection last week. Salesman left two messages on my answering machine while I was away this weekend.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I think it's an odd design. The headlights look to be taken from an anime character, and the things look like they are jacked up in the rear, like and old hot rod.

And you are right, lemko, there is some bad taste here. Heck, in the past I have spotted both a Sable (I actually see this one often) and of all things a Mercury Topaz with carriage tops, so maybe there's some bad old school thinking here. I would expect to find such taste in Florida or even around NYC, but not out west.

It is absolutely amazing how many of the new Camry's I see everyday. Those things must be flying off the lots. What's even more amazing is the amounts of older ones that don't seem to be declining in the least. So there must be a bunch of Newbee's out there who jumped into the Camry fray. Anyone know what kind of sales are conquest sales? Must be pretty impressive numbers.

Ford Edge sales seem to be picking up as well, see a lot more of those these days as well.

    Spotted this car today.

Kid from the S2k club is selling it for his grandmother. In case anyone is looking :shades:

Also, saw a couple of new X5's on the way home today. Nice update. 3 series coupes and verts a plenty around here as well.

Oh, and saw a red NSX (non flip lights) and a few minutes later a beautiful Bentley GT coupe in blue. Wow.

    Sedan, looks nice. :shades:

I spotted a silver Bentley Continental GTC yesterday, and a dark red CL550 too, at the body shop.

Yes, I have my car back, but of course it has been a fiasco. They put a scratch on the lower boddy cladding, and when trying to buff it out, went through the paint. So now my car is being driven without this trim on one side while they fix it. I am pleased.

It was also about 90F here yesterday, and the AC in the car sucks. Yesterday was the first really hot day since I got the car...and I think I might have to make another warranty claim coming. I know MB AC usually isn't good, but this is much worse than in others I have experienced.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Maybe your AC needs recharging. My AC works great, and starts cooling within about 2 minutes of the car starting in super hot weather. And my centre console has vents in it so it's great for colling down water bottle that's been sitting in the car all day.

I saw a Gallardo convertible today, baby blue color. For the past 2 weeks seems like I've been seeing a Lambo or Ferrari every day. I guess the nice weather brings them out.

Yeah I am going to drop by my indy mechanic next week and see what he thinks. Hopefully not a big deal. The air it puts out is cool-ish, but not like on the C43 or even the W126 that had over 180K miles on it.

Today I saw an E55 wagon, uncommon.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...spotted a black Mercedes G55 AMG last night.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Yesterday when finally getting my car back up to spec, I saw a new E63 AMG sitting at the body shop. It must have had some cosmetic damage repaired, maybe from shipping...I looked the car over, and from the underside and brakes, it obviously had not been driven. However, it had a huge ding in the windshield, the size of a quarter at least.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Stopped by a Benz dealer over the weekend cause the wife wants an SLK, when I look over and what is sitting on the corner, a brand new CL63 in triple-black. Now, I absolutely hated the restyled nose when the pics first appeared on the net and in the magazines, but in person this thing looks just plain brutal. Especially in black, with the multi-spoke 19's (maybe 20's), the thing looks just plain evil.

The place also had on eof those new Z4 "M" hatches, and while it has better proportions than that ugly Z3 "M" Reebok sneaker looking thing, it was still just plain odd.

Friday between Louisville/Nashville I saw a row of sports cars in identical colors snaking over the hills behind me. when they passed there were 10 burnt orange Corvettes all with Indianapolis 500 license plates issued by Indiana. They all pulled in at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green next to the Corvette factory!

Saw two of these recently. They're still so rare that I was surprised to see them one after the other.

I saw the new Mitsu sedan parked at a mall, first opportunity to get a good look at one and surpisingly it looked good better than a Camcord.

It was a cool shade of medium blue and had nice edgy styling that didn't descend into weirdness.

    New G35 right behind a new 328i.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Yeah, I'm really digging the new Lancer as well. In GTS trim, I'd even go so far as to compare it to an Acura TSX than a Camcord. Mitsu really put the effort into the redesign.
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
I saw my first Lancer on the street yesterday also. It was the definitely a base model in white. Still it looked surprisingly nice.

I thought it was a Mazda6 at first.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Today I have seen a Gallardo roadster, a STS-V, a SL55, a retractable roof 3er, and a weird new S550 that was white with a panorama roof, looked odd somehow.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I've seen a couple of new Miatas...er MX-5s, The new fender contour looks good and gives the car a little bit of 'Tude that the older designs didn't have.

Jeep Wrangler 4-doors are popping up a lot too. If you've ever had to sit in back of a 2-dr you'll know why ;).

Product planners at Chrysler must be smacking their heads wondering why they didn't think of that before. They look good too.

These look best from the front. From some rear angles they actually look a bit awkward.

That 3rd row must be tiny.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Some of the documentation with the car says that people over 5 foot 5 should not even try to use the back seat.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Sedan in a deep burgandy color. Nice.

A few new updated X5's and a Black M6 this morning. Couple of new Lancers, a slew of new Camry's as usual and I never really noticed just how many new Tacomas are out there!

Lessee, a couple of those new Avengers, a new Sebring convertible, one of those full size Hyundai SUV's that look like Lexus RX's and a couple of new CX-9's. :shades:
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I saw my first Jaguar XKR today, photographs do not do it justice. In the metal it has a sleef and potent look.

I saw a new style Unimog today. Weird thing, looks like it is 15 feet tall

image - it was something like this
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Local Subaru dealers have the updated, restyled Tribeca. Looks good. Couldn't find any new Imprezas on the lots yet...

Wife and I stopped to check out the new Mazda CX-9. While it's not going to end up in our garage due to size (Our MDX is too much right now) it is quite a rig. I'm not really a fan of the slab sided CX-7, but this one is much more elegant.

Saw a bunch of new 3-series coupes and convertibles

Blast from the past: Sitting on the side of the highway was a red Dodge Daytona from the 90's?

Like this but no pop-up headlights...

    image

And an absolutely stunning pewter Split-window Vette with the spinners.

From the side and rear, it looks like something designed and built on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain. :( And whose idea was it to put the side repeaters in the door?
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
European cars haver to have the side markers on the fender or door.

The LR3 is all about form following function. Every single thing on the car has a function and nothing is on the car that is not for function. That is why it only has one air vent on the passenger side.

The air vent draws in air for the engine and by mounting it on the side it improves wading depth. It also makes it easier to attach a snorkel. The engine only needs one vent so it doesn't get a non-functional one on the other side.

The slab sides and cab to the rear design mean that two 6 foot one tall adult can sit in the third row comfortably. Not other mid-sized SUV in the world can do that. Oh and with all the seats folded down there is nearly 100 cubic feet of cargo room.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Today there must have been a new Aston convention in town...I saw 5 (!) new style Aston Martins on the road today. 4 grey and silver coupes, and a red convertible. Also, a silver Ferrari F430 convertible.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
I don't know if it's really for sale yet, I think we are still a ways away but guess what I spotted yesterday? Couple of hints:

    - It's got a giant gaping opening fro a grill, A pentistar shape big enough to sallow a Kia Sephia

    - Continued design lineage with it's bigger, more expensive siblings

    - A huge wreath and crest in the center of said huge, gaping mouth(that was probably enough to give it away)

    - A non-(V)elocity model

    - It didn't have a Landau roof or wire wheels and was completely devoid of curb-feelers :P

Yup, a new CTS in Silver, and if I had not driven by it 3 times to confirm my claims I never would have believed it. It was parked in broad, morning daylight in the middle of Concord, MA. I don't know if it was an unplanned stop or not but my hunch tells me that it was strategically placed as this was pretty much one of THEE busiest roads through town. If I had my camera, I would have posted pics but I didn't. Sorry folks.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
First on the roads, all black, in downtown DC. Only seen them at a dealer and on the auto show circuit up to now.

    Talk about blind spots....
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
We did ride and drives this week in the Rogue. Neat little crossover. It will sell well.

Also we just got the Altima coupe. Nice car too.

    Rouge?

What is that. I haven't even heard of it. Or is that the US name of the Cube thing?

Saw an Altima coupe out on the streets.

I really like it. Reminds me of the G35c, in a good way.

Plus it looks very distinctive from the Altima sedan.

    Good job, Nissan.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I saw almost the entire new AMG lineup today. Of course, I was out dawdling around and stopped by the local MB dealer. It kills me what is optional on these cars, given their price point. Still, they were quite lovely, although white is the last color I would choose for an S63.

I think I want those E63 wheels and brake assemblies on my E55.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
I saw a GL320 CDI at the auto show this afternoon. The local Mercedes club had a couple of cars from the local MB dealer on hand.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,338
I'm sure if you have enough money, the dealer would be happy to swap a set on for you.

A couple of streets over from me just brought home a Lambo Gallardo... I haven't bumped into him yet to ask how, but he may have won a lottery. We just had a 4th of July drawing, one of the best odds in history of winning 1 million smackaroos. May have a winner...

Also saw a couple of new Subaru Tribecas even though they're not as exciting.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Yeah, anything can be done with enough money, much more than I would want to spend.

Maybe eventually a set will be available used for cheap...barring any unforseen issues etc, I plan to keep my car for several years.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Today I saw a pearl white new-style DTS with a vinyl top, chrome wheels, gold trim, and white-and-yellow-wall tires. No continental kit, curb feelers, or RR grille.

On that note, yesterday I saw a 97-01 Camry with a vinyl top, it was ridiculous. Also, an early 90s Deville with the 'full Florida' treatment - top, grille, wires, continental kit, and all.

Speaking of the GL320 CDi, I also saw one of these yesterday. I could hear the diesel!
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Haven't seen many of these, but this weeked I spotted two of them.

OK, a Ford Five Hundred, totally pimped out. I'm talking billet aluminum grille, spinnaz, the works! :D

All that for an underpowered, relatively dull sedan.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
I sold a used one with 1,900 miles on it for 54,000 dollars or so.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
I'd step up to a base 911 for the same price and a much better gearbox... The Cayman gearbox fights back too much changing gears. It reminds me of the one in my Subaru.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,557
I haven't driven a Cayman... Boxsters and 911s, but no Caymans...

But, just for the looks and the rarity.. I'll take the Cayman.. I don't lust after the 911..

So.. .. if I can get $54K for the kid... hmm.. things are looking up.. ;)
