seeing the fact that Mazda offers 5 speed auto as an option for 2006, does anyone thinkg that Mazda will offer 5 speed auto as standard in the next gen?
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
for all you Mazda 3 owners out there, and who are into sound system, has anyone considered changing the head unit?
  • neosetnaneosetna Member Posts: 7
I just bought a new 2006 MZ3 GT Sport Hatchback.,..it ran up to 27 grand...CDN. Changing the face plate to put in a new system?? well first off, anything after market, will void the warranty...but try and go through that process with mazda. Will warn you that it might be an eye sore...depending on what you put in there. I have also considered this and although it would be nice and I just got rid of my old system, I did get a six disc CD changer in my car, so it will do for now...but yea, I will one day soon want a new system as well. Mazda has a Mp3/Cd system, and its not that bad, ask about that

Locking wheel nuts, didn't really ask for anything more, I guess I should have tried but didn't want the hassle
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
just wondering, how do you find opening the trunk?
  • neosetnaneosetna Member Posts: 7
Sure, options...uhhh, everything...heated leather comes with the GT sport model in 2006, tinted windows...just the back and the back 2 windows of course. Just a fully loaded model with the works...the 27 grand is not including the GST. I am in Alberta. I would recommend getting the 2006 over the 2005 for a few reasons though. The in dash six disc CD changer, the heated leather, diff style rear lights I do believe...a new computer system...it has a some different aspects to it, and for one major thing...the 2005 mazda3 is already in the black book...which btw , if some people dont knwo about this....is the re -sale value of your car and how the auto world deals with it... The black book basically means any dealership can look up your car and say....well its in the black book and its worth this much, just by looking on the internet. The moment you drive that 2005 off the lot...you lose....so by the 2006....for you wallet's sake... :P

My friend of mine hates ford...and someone told him the Mazda3 engine has a ford engine in it?? I was under the assumption that the Mazda3 was all japanese...is there any truth to this rumor?? Please if anyone has info on this...let me know, thanks

    Glenn
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
No worries, the Mazda 3 doesn't have a Ford engine in it! Ford simply owns 33% of Mazda.

And for added comfort, the Mazda 3 is made in Japan, so you can be reassured that it is made with quality!
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
lucky u that u live in Alberta! u save a bit on taxes. :)

as for the options, heated seats, in dash 6 CD changer, is it worth the price?

i read that the 06 tail lamps will be LED on the Sport, so it would be nice.
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
between the trunk on the sport and the sedan, i find the former so much easier to open.

still deciding as to which one i will get, sport or sedan.

I live in Cornwall, Ontario and I have received a price quote for the following 2005 Mazda 3 GS with Air, Power Package, and automatic transmission. Quote is as follows:
    19195 sale price
    510 PDI
    685 Freight
    100 Air Tax
    75 Fuel Tax
    295 Admin Fee
Total price including all fees = $20 860 + taxes (15% in Ontario)

The sale price is supposed to be $1500 below the MSP because I am paying cash and am a repeat Mazda buyer.

Please advise me with your experiences...is this a fair deal? What is a fair deal? Should I buy a 2006 instead? What would be a fair price for a 2006?

Also...Can anyone recommend good dealerships in the Cornwall/Ottawa area?

    Thank you!!

have u considered in getting the GT?
  • dickhertzdickhertz Member Posts: 4
I haven't even looked at the GT. Should I? What is the difference in product and price? Is it worth it?
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
the price difference is close to 4K but with the GT you get everything, and also a bit more HP and torque. There is also the GFX package which I think it's a good deal.

But then again, it depends on what your budget is.

If you compare a GS and GT side by side, no doubt the GT looks a lot hell better and also faster too!

I just signed the papers a few minutes ago. I purchased a new 2005 Titanium coloured Mazda 3 GS with Air, Auto Trans, Power Package & Sports Package. Price before PST & GST was $21,571. I believe that this is a pretty good deal so I will also purchase the 72 month bumper to bumper protection package for $1299. This will bring me up to $22,870 + taxes.

Did I get screwed? I'm pretty happy with this deal!

  • neosetnaneosetna Member Posts: 7
I have heard the new tail lights have changed...have any pictures of them?? I just bought a 2006 MZ3 GT Sport hatchback...and I forget what they look like, cuz I was looking at the 2005's for so damn long....see if you can find any pictures, ill look as well

Apparently they're only for the 5-door.
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
Apparently they're only for the 5-door.

Nope. They're standard in the top-of-the-line "Grand Touring" package for the 4-door S and 5-door, which basically is the 2006 version of the SP23.

  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
probably in the states, but here in Canada, the LED taillights is only offered on the GT Sport (5dr).
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
    thanks for the pics.

is there a noticeable diff between the LED and the ones on the GT?
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
Not anymore. I'm talking about 2006. Go back to post 359 and read the info I posted on the 2006 Mazda3 model lineup for all of North America, not just for the U.S.

For next year, we'll have the same models and options.

    hey everyone,
i'm new here and live in alberta. looking at an 06 sport GT with everything. the 06 is only $300 mroe than the 05 and the 06 comes with heated seats/6 cd changer and the computer. big value as far as i'm concerned. plus the added interest rate I guess. anyhow, anybody got a 06 yet? wondering if anybody knows of any reoccuring problems in the 05 that should be fixed (or isn't) in the 06? what should i look out for?
quote i got was $26 before tax. only gst here in alberta thank god lol. what price is everyone else getting for thier 06 sport GT?
oh and on the mazda website, they have a "upgraded dash" accessory, any body know what taht is?
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
hmmmmmmmm, well if you visit mazda.ca it only lists the LED on the Sport GT.
  • mdaffronmdaffron Member Posts: 4,421
I visited that site and saw what you saw. Interesting. I wonder why that is, since the post with all those details that I wrote two weeks ago was copied from a memo to all Mazda dealers in North America, from Mazda North American Operations? Maybe they made a change after that memo was released.

it would be sweet if they have led on all mazda 3s!
  • vecktorvecktor Member Posts: 8
    What a sweet ride!

In Winning blue with the rear spoiler it is just to cool. The lights inside freak me out. The lights in the dash change from blue to red.

But as post above indicated the Sedan does not have LED lights. The Sport model does. But the front and rear light do look sharp.

The M3 looks good next to my 2005 Toyota Highlander.

If you in the Edmonton region check out Sundance. Excellent service.

Does anyone know how much the dealer invoice price is for the Maxda 3 GS with Power Package? I went in to deal with the manager at Mazda in northern ontario and he wanted to give me only a 400 dollar savings on the car. I want something more substantial like 1,500.00 off the car but he did not budge so I did not offer anything for now. Have to wait for the new 2006 models coming up in a week or two. He showed us this price list and said he never shows it to any customer accept me! Yeah right! Like I believe that one! He says, The dealer pays about 19,000.00 for the car the rest is their profit. I dont believe that at all!
Anyone know what they really pay for the car? I hear there are web sites you can go to and pay a fee to find out what the dealer pays for the car. I dont want to be pressured to pay the full price. The new Mazda 2006 GS sedan with power package is 20, 895 before taxes and freight. I hate dealing with these salesmen they pressure you to pay full price and they sure dont make your buying experience an good one at all. It feels like a long wearing down process. I will not budge till I get some satisfaction!
Anyone have any advice ? Sure appreciate it alot!

www.carcostcanda.com for about $45 will allow you to get the Dealers invoice price. Note this still does not reflect the real price, there are Mazda to Dealer incentives (not published anywhere) and there is 2% (I think) hold back which is paid to the Dealer from Mazda when the vehicle is sold. On carbuyingtips.com has a work sheet to calculate a fair price.

Note for the 2005/6 GT sedan both have 1500+ difference between MSRP and Invoice.

I paid 600+ over invoice show on Carcostcanada and included the rearspoiler not included in the invoice price.

    Good Luck.

Please refer to my earlier postings # 384 & 388. I just purchased last week a 2005 Mazda 3 GS with air, auto transmission, Power Package & Sports package for $21,571 + taxes. It had 10 Km on it. It drives wonderfully and I would highly recommend this type vehicle to anyone.

i'm interested in knowing more about the interior dash lights. you say it goes from blue to red? i only test drove the 05 which was just red. i'm looking at the sport GT. can you switch between blue and red or does it conistanly swithc on its own? thanks!
  • speed7speed7 Member Posts: 11
Yes that sparks a question for me as well?
How about the Mazda 3 GS does the tachometer or dash lights light up as well ?
    If so what colour?
I test drove it and both the GT as well and it was red with blue outline and apparently works with some type of tri mode illumination but not sure with the other colour is?
Maybe its another colour for night illumination but I am not completely sure.
Its too bad that feature is not on the GS but I will live with it as the cars quality and dependability is what I mainly am interested .
But the dash lights are really cool on the GT I must admit

We were in Quebec for a week in August. Unfortunately, we were driving my wife's Tribute (with roof carrier and bike rack) instead of my 3. I would've loved to have driven the 3 on some of those gravel roads through the Laurentians.

In the Roots store in Mont-Tremblant they had a Mazda promotional card with a photo of the Mazda5. Unfortunately (for my comprehension at least), all of the text was in French. It seemed to be a $500 incentive with a Mazda purchase. Anybody know anything about it?

It is amazing how many Mazdas are on the road in Quebec - a much higher percentage than in the US.

Hi I'm planning to buy a 2006 mazda 3 GT with GFX and Luxury Pkg in Vancouver, BC
    The msrp is 24,935
    freight&pdi 1,195
    air con fee 100
    paint 105 .
    sub total 26,335
    14%tax 3,686.90

    total 30021.90

The Best deal i got is 28,000 on the road
    Is this a good deal?
And how much is a wing spoiler?
Should i deal or buy aftermarket?
  • encoreencore Member Posts: 4
how much did you pay taxes and all OTR.
  • autonomousautonomous Member Posts: 1,769

    Msrp = 24,935 ; Pretax = 26,335 ; After tax = 30021.90 ; After deal =28,000

A C$2022 discount sounds good to me. The MSRP seems high but I don't have the 2006 numbers. What does the Luxury package include?
  • chrisboltchrisbolt Member Posts: 10
For those options, the difference between sticker and invoice is $1684 CAD, so that sounds like a pretty good deal to me...
  • mandymusikamandymusika Member Posts: 42
change the colors from what to what? i only know of the red lights with blue outline. thanks.
  • tr20tr20 Member Posts: 76
there is a button on top of the dash where u can change the color
  • mandymusikamandymusika Member Posts: 42
thank you. i understand where the button is. my question is what colors does it change to? I only know of the red lights with blue outline. what other color is there?
  • encoreencore Member Posts: 4
24,935 is the msrp for the 2006 mazda 3 gt w/gfx and lux pkg.

The luxury package includes leather seats, heated driver and front passenger seats, 6 disc in-dash cd changer.

I have called everywhere in the lower mainland and no one was willing to
beat 28,000 otr. The closest was 28,600 otr.

I'm hoping this is a decent deal for Vancouver, BC.
  • encoreencore Member Posts: 4

Sounds like you have a good deal for what you've optioned.
  • vecktorvecktor Member Posts: 8
No other colors. When you first get in the M3 GT the blue out line is shown. When you start the vechile the red appears (red fads in, Blue fades out). There are actualy two control for the lights and are mainly used to just dim the lights. The lighting is depandant if the headlights are on. So you can have the dash darker if the headlights are on. Not my choise as I like to have the headlights on when I am on the highway during the day.

Here's part of a review in Canadian Driver (link title) that summed up the Mazda feeling

If you try - and I stress try - to drive this car sedately, you get the feeling that it's getting impatient. It always seems to want to go faster, brake harder or turn sharper. And if you're not careful, you'll find yourself indulging the car's every wish - you'll keep your right foot in it much longer than you should, you'll wait to brake until the last minute and you'll take the long way home just to spend more time behind the wheel. It's not hard to tell this car was designed and built by the same company that created the Miata. Seriously, if you can find a better sub-$20,000 car with four doors and seats for five that's this fun to drive, buy it.
