Trying to locate the FPDM on a 2002 Taurus SE.

Trying to locate the FPDM on a 2002 Taurus SE. I've looked behind the driver side rear wheel in the trunk, on the passenger side behind the rear seat and even on the passenger side behind the rear wheel. I've checked under the dash but I have not been able to run it down. Not sure if this has any significance, but there is a cover under the car at the trunk area. I have yet to check there but is there a possibility that it may be there?
