What would you pay for this car?

2009 Toyota Corolla - Selling for 3950 w/ 130,000 miles

As the picture indicates there seems to be some damage to that front passenger door.

Also, I drive over 100 miles per day.... how long do you guys think this car will last?

I'm thinking of offering 2K and working from there.

Maybe $2500 if it drove out nicely and didn't need things like tires, brakes, etc. If it were low mileage and pristine it could bring $4K. As it is, it is definitely overpriced. Depends too on how the rest of the car looks (it seems to have about $600-$800 damage), and if there are service records and such.

If you're planning on doing 100 miles per day, you'd better allow some money to go through the car, and attend to things like belts, hoses, fluid changes, good tires. No reason why you couldn't get another 3-4 years out of it if it's a) in good shape now and b) you take care of it.

Low enough I'm definitely going to call and get a history on it.... but yeah probably won't work out.

Thanks for the cost estimate: @Mr_Shiftright

CARFAX looks good, lots of maintenance records. There's an open safety recall on the car though.

Hmmm...maybe that "damage" is just a reflection. If the car is damage-free, you're not going to get it for your offer, especially not from a dealer. If she's nice and clean and runs well, you could probably snag it for somewhere in the low $3Ks. Might be worth it. These are good cars, even if not very exciting.

Well, I spoke w/ 'em and the cosmetic damage is all over and on the inside. Even the trunk had some pieces chipped off and the inside had holes going through and past the carpeting. Not sure what this car has been through. The manager told me he can't sell beneath $3500. Overall, decent people, but we weren't able to work something out. There are enough people who simply need something to drive who will buy these cars and that keeps the prices from bottoming out.

Guess, I'll get back to looking for a cheap beater.

    Thanks for your help @Mr_Shiftright

Good move. No way it's worth that with all that damage.
