I have a leak by the driver side rear tire. It's not fuel, was wondering what else it could be?

2007 Ford Crown Victoria. Just bought it, its at 119,XXX miles. I have not done any work on it yet. The issue is there's a leak by the driver's back tire. When you run the car it gets hot and starts smoking back there. The only light on is the ABS light. Could it be brake fluid?

what's "smoking"? The tail pipe or behind the wheel? (if the latter, do NOT touch the wheel with your finger).

It's possible you have a leaking axle seal--that could leak onto the brake linings, causing smoke and a drip.
