2007 Equinox slipping only in low gear

Hi all,

My 07 Equinox has 205,000 miles. It started slipping in log gear only. When it finally catches, it's fine in the other gears. I've taken it to two locations for a look. Both say that their computers show sensors and solenoid problems...but needs a new or rebuilt tranny.

I'm not a mechanic, but can't understand why the sensors and solenoids can't be replaced instead of a new tranny.

Thoughts?

Thanks from Kentucky.

Do you know if they did any kind of pressure testing? Did they drop the pan and look for any kind of debris? Have you had a service done on the unit?

Naturally on a transmission this old, most shops would be reluctant to tear into the unit on a piecemeal basis.

If you had the #s of these codes, that might give us more information.
