My salesman sent me an email from LRNA corporate that the RSES does not include head phones, and that none are available through LR parts. :confuse: I will try to think of the omission as an endearing quirk.
But if you do indeed want to take advantage of the factory PTI system, you need to have a cradle compatible phone and ignore Bluetooth.. With just Bluetooth, there is no phone book or call log access... which is just lame. (Other car manufacturers, like BMW, offer phone books access over Bluetooth.) And, of course, no charging and external antenna.
I know, I know... having the text there will probably knock off .5 secs from 0-60 -- everyone should complain.

I am not a fan of green, but this combo of green/Ivory with Aspen carpet is so luxurious.
I was able to find a dealer that honored the X-Plan pricing on this vehicle so I got it below sticker... great deal! These introductory packages are a great value, you only lose the PDC with it, but it beats the $2,750 for the luxury package.
I had a Disco Series 2 and looked at LR3's but HATED them. I was determined to keep my Disco until it fell apart, but after driving the RRS I was in heaven.. this was a step up. I just wonder who is buying the LR3 HSE or even SE's with options when the RRS is only a few thousand more and a way nicer vehicle.
So far I only have 2 complaints:
1. The PTI isn't compatible with very many phones and I have Sprint so it looks like I'll never be able to use that option... what a waste of money.
2. You have to press the accept button each time you start the car on the Navigation system.
Hopefully I will love this car after five years as much as I do today, but so far it is a wonderful car that is priced right in the Market. I know the dealers in my area can't keep them on the lots and are pre-sold for several months out.
Thanks
Easy answer 7 seats. I agree for seating for 5.
LR3 and RRS really are targeted at different markets...
P.S. a note about blue tooth:
i have a treo 650 with sprint. it sometimes works, and sometimes it doesnt... it reallly just hit or miss...
i wonder if they will come up with a software/hardware update in the near future to make the sprint treo more compatible?!?!?!
Sometimes you have to move out of the box...into another box!

I am hoping to haggle with my trade and pay sticker...
Thanks
however, they did offer me more than the blue book for my trade, so i was happy. besides the LR customer service is excellent....
I now have 400 miles on the RRS, and no probles so far...
the voice activated features are kind of touchy...
Have already received a nice ding in the drivers-side rear door thanks to my dumbass neighbor. He just bought an X3--I think there's a little SUV envy going on.
Haven't driven it much due to a hectic travel schedule, but here are some initial observations:
1. Folks in some of the international forums complained about the lack of cargo hooks in the trunk. Ours has them.
2. Headphones and a Remote were promised w/ the Rear Ent package but not delivered. The dealer is looking into it.
3. Everyone thinks the Rear Ent package is way overpriced, but its the first thing people notice and ask about.
4. Seems to have a weird rear-right blind spot. Visually, it seems like it should be fine, but for some reason, small cars seem to disappear into it. Thank god for horns and quick reflexes.
5. Its fun to drive. The HSE engine is surprisingly sufficient.
6. There should be a better way to secure the floor mats. Ours weren't installed and according to the instructions you're supposed to put down tape and then use a dowel to poke holes in the carpet, and then attach the mats via plastic screws that go into the holes in the carpet. I think I'll just put some velcro stickers on the bottom of the mats...
I plan on doing a full feature review and a bluetooth pairing this weekend. I'll share if I come across anything interesting.
BTW, has anyone seen an posting about how to enter the diagnostic/service mode on the nav screen? DVD visuals are disabled for the front nav due to US laws--there's got to be a way to re-enable it. Ditto for the silly acceptance screen.

I would like to have both my car and my navigation system speak in a British female voice, but understand a US male voice.
Any help would be appreciated... I seem to get the car to be British female, but then nav is British male or vice versa.... and every once in a while a US female is chosen.
Wireless headphones (and remote) are included in the (non-integrated) roof mounted dealer kit "all-in-one" DVD system, which you don't have. (Same LR3 dealer install DVD kit.) I don't think there is even a wireless transmitter in the factory system. Use the headphone jacks right next to the passengers -- no need for wireless.
Same test/diag mode as LR3 to my knowledge, but you can't re-enable or bypass anything... sorry.
I did get a remote with the system. I haven't used it yet.
I will check out one of the range sports on our lot here in a second and see if what exactly you need to do in order to adjust voices.
Now try and mess around with the radio, CD or navigation. As long as you speak clearly and distinctly the computer should have no problem understanding you and it should respond with a British female voice.

When cradled, the phone will be charged and extend the antenna... and, of course, won't need Bluetooth. Without a cradled phone, the system is no better or worse than an aftermarket kit.
They both top out about the same speed but believe me you don't really want to be going that fast in these things. That's what i have cars for.
I have the rear entertainment system in my RRS Supercharged.
Much thanks
Josh
Last question, anybody have the Sirius radio? Do you know if the NFL package is included or needs to be added? I have the account active and found the NFL channel but do not see where all the games will be broadcast from.
