My gauges are black with white markings. My car is black/black. The Vesuvius is the hot color. I also bought at MSRP--in central Florida.

My salesman sent me an email from LRNA corporate that the RSES does not include head phones, and that none are available through LR parts. :confuse: I will try to think of the omission as an endearing quirk. :D

Overall, Bluetooth compatibility pretty good on modern phones -- but never expect LR/Nokia to "certify" a large list of phones. The system has been out since '05 RR, and the list has barely grown. Motorola RAZR seems to work fine. Compatability wil be the same on 2005+ Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and RRS -- it's all the same Nokia/LR system.

But if you do indeed want to take advantage of the factory PTI system, you need to have a cradle compatible phone and ignore Bluetooth.. With just Bluetooth, there is no phone book or call log access... which is just lame. (Other car manufacturers, like BMW, offer phone books access over Bluetooth.) And, of course, no charging and external antenna.

do the gages say supercharger on them?
  • scottphillipscottphillip Member Posts: 249
Mine do not say supercharger on them. Do your gauges? :confuse:
  • caporajmcaporajm Member Posts: 4
no, they dont' say anything on them.. they aren't even white, the needles are red, just like the HSE, so i'm going to talk to my dealer about that one and check to see what the other superchargers have (if they have any available)
  • grommetgrommet Member Posts: 445
I test drove a Vesuvious RRS Supercharged two weeks ago and the guages didn't look special to me... same as the other Sports. There is no "Supercharged" text above the RPM gauge needle; it looks like that didn't make it to production. (I know the early marketing photos show it, as did the show cars.)

I know, I know... having the text there will probably knock off .5 secs from 0-60 -- everyone should complain. ;)

Has anyone had any success with the treo 650 for sprint pcs with the range rover sport?

I just purchased a 2006 RRS Tonga Green with Ivory interior that had the introductory package that adds the cherry wood, upgraded seats and has the aspen carpet interior. It also had the PTI. (I am on the West coast of Florida) I LOVE the way this car looks and it is a dream to drive.

I am not a fan of green, but this combo of green/Ivory with Aspen carpet is so luxurious.

I was able to find a dealer that honored the X-Plan pricing on this vehicle so I got it below sticker... great deal! These introductory packages are a great value, you only lose the PDC with it, but it beats the $2,750 for the luxury package.

I had a Disco Series 2 and looked at LR3's but HATED them. I was determined to keep my Disco until it fell apart, but after driving the RRS I was in heaven.. this was a step up. I just wonder who is buying the LR3 HSE or even SE's with options when the RRS is only a few thousand more and a way nicer vehicle.

So far I only have 2 complaints:

    1. The PTI isn't compatible with very many phones and I have Sprint so it looks like I'll never be able to use that option... what a waste of money.

    2. You have to press the accept button each time you start the car on the Navigation system.

Hopefully I will love this car after five years as much as I do today, but so far it is a wonderful car that is priced right in the Market. I know the dealers in my area can't keep them on the lots and are pre-sold for several months out.

What is the X-Plan pricing.... and why would some dealers have it and others not?
  • 2006rrs2006rrs Member Posts: 9
X-Plan is the pricing plan for people who work for business that are partners with Ford Motor Co. Since it is a voluntary participation plan, not all dealers honor it.
  • joenavjoenav Member Posts: 2
My company is also a Ford partner. I have been unable to locate the RRS x-plan price on the Ford partenrs site, can you share where this is located?
    Thanks
  • 2006rrs2006rrs Member Posts: 9
You need your company's partner code in order to access the site, the once you are in you just select the brand (land rover) and the vehicle... however the RRS is not on the site yet, you need to call them or speak to a dealer that honors it.
  • joenavjoenav Member Posts: 2
I have checked the website, but as indicated the RRS is not listed. I didn realize that the price would be honored prior to being placed on the website. Thanks for the information.
  • lr_saleslr_sales Member Posts: 13
Not many dealers are doing X or S plan pricing for the RRS. I know mine is not doing it for the RRS or the Supercharged Range Rover either. We will only do it on the reqular range rover, LR3 and Freelander.
  • tnhtnh Member Posts: 2
I live in California and picked mine up June 27th, but it was at the dealership on June 25th. I paid sticker, not higher, they had the SC orange one but the salesman said it was $50,000 over sticker.
  • tnhtnh Member Posts: 2
In So Cal my dealer salesperson said it was $50,000 markup on the Vesuvious, they had one inside the service area being PDI'd when I picked mine up.
  • bigzajbigzaj Member Posts: 1
Why does the limited edition RRS not have the option for rear differential lock or the adaptive cruise control?
  • teamyonexteamyonex Member Posts: 42
I believe X-plan pricing is 4% over invoice. Often one can negotiate a better deal.
  • rartigorartigo Member Posts: 2
Hello, I,m planning to get a RSS base model without an option, can you please help me on the current dealers pricing? I'm here in LA, CA and base on dealers here they don't give quotes on the internet? Do any one have experience on the OTD price excluding taxes & fees. Thank you very much.
  • 2006rrs2006rrs Member Posts: 9
I would say be prepared to pay sticker plus dealer fee for your vehicle, but good luck finding a base model. Every model seems to have at least the Personal Telephone Integration option or Satellite.

"I just wonder who is buying the LR3 HSE or even SE's with options when the RRS is only a few thousand more and a way nicer vehicle."

Easy answer 7 seats. I agree for seating for 5.
  • grommetgrommet Member Posts: 445
Also, RRS has less room for front passengers... so my 6'4" frame feels tight in there. LR3 is more comfortable for me. (As is the "true" Range Rover.) I also miss the fold-down lower tailgate of the LR3 -- the RRS design, obviously necessary for it's "look", just isn't as usable.

LR3 and RRS really are targeted at different markets...
  • roverloverroverlover Member Posts: 1
The lease #s on the LR3 are way better then the RRS
  • fratkid21fratkid21 Member Posts: 12
well, i just picked up my RRS this weekend, and as i was waiting around in the show room, i wanted to vomit every time i looked at the LR3 (it is ugly)... The RRS, is by far their most appealing vehicle to look at...

P.S. a note about blue tooth:
i have a treo 650 with sprint. it sometimes works, and sometimes it doesnt... it reallly just hit or miss...
i wonder if they will come up with a software/hardware update in the near future to make the sprint treo more compatible?!?!?!
  • sam818sam818 Member Posts: 127
As always... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... the appeal of the LR3 styling lies in the asymmetry of the tailgate and vents, the tight, vertical front-end treatment and the almost "tonka toy" like detailing.....while the RRS is more traditional.... that's all.
Sometimes you have to move out of the box...into another box!

I haven't had any problems with my RRS Supercharged in the first 500 miles of ownership. My mileage is about 13 mpg--mostly city driving. I didn't expect much better. So far I am :) pleased...
  • lsufan6969lsufan6969 Member Posts: 1
For a while I kept up with the LR3 board when they first came out. There seemed to be one problem after another. I will probably pick up our RRS HSE tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has encountered any problems that LR has yet to address. The fuel tank thing with the LR3 was ridiculous. We fell in love with the RRS today and I'm pretty sure there's no going back. We looked at a Cayenne on the way out of New Orleans, but I couldn't tell it from a VW so I figured it wasn't worth the money. It's RRS or nothing I'm afraid. The old lady has spoken.

If you don't mind me asking I am planning on purchasing a RR Sport this weekend and the sticker is 59900 with the luxury int package...did anyone haggle with the price or was it as is. I ask b/c it seems like they don't have to play with the sticker since they are in high demand...
I am hoping to haggle with my trade and pay sticker...

    Thanks
  • fratkid21fratkid21 Member Posts: 12
yeah, there is no haggle at all, my dealer just happened to have one that someone ordered in, but could not afford to buy, so i got it. My sticker price was 57,550, and thats what I paid for it. I tried to get a few grand off, but to no avail, i paid msrp...

however, they did offer me more than the blue book for my trade, so i was happy. besides the LR customer service is excellent....

I now have 400 miles on the RRS, and no probles so far...
the voice activated features are kind of touchy...

Took delivery on a HSE Black/Ivory w/ the Lux and Rear Entertainment packages. Paid sticker. Got a reasonable trade-in offer on our Audi sedan but declined. The Rear Ent package wasn't on our list of priorities, but there's a waiting list for that color combo w/ the lux package and someone above us on the list passed, so we went with it. Its fun to floss... :)

Have already received a nice ding in the drivers-side rear door thanks to my dumbass neighbor. He just bought an X3--I think there's a little SUV envy going on.

Haven't driven it much due to a hectic travel schedule, but here are some initial observations:

    1. Folks in some of the international forums complained about the lack of cargo hooks in the trunk. Ours has them.
    2. Headphones and a Remote were promised w/ the Rear Ent package but not delivered. The dealer is looking into it.
    3. Everyone thinks the Rear Ent package is way overpriced, but its the first thing people notice and ask about.
    4. Seems to have a weird rear-right blind spot. Visually, it seems like it should be fine, but for some reason, small cars seem to disappear into it. Thank god for horns and quick reflexes.
    5. Its fun to drive. The HSE engine is surprisingly sufficient.
    6. There should be a better way to secure the floor mats. Ours weren't installed and according to the instructions you're supposed to put down tape and then use a dowel to poke holes in the carpet, and then attach the mats via plastic screws that go into the holes in the carpet. I think I'll just put some velcro stickers on the bottom of the mats...

I plan on doing a full feature review and a bluetooth pairing this weekend. I'll share if I come across anything interesting.

BTW, has anyone seen an posting about how to enter the diagnostic/service mode on the nav screen? DVD visuals are disabled for the front nav due to US laws--there's got to be a way to re-enable it. Ditto for the silly acceptance screen.

i will be interested in what you find on the bluetooth stuff, i have been unsucessful in my internet searches...

Does anyone know how to change the voice settings and navigation settings. I have read the book and tried to change them via the navigation screen and can get them to change, but not always to what I want. Also, some seem to recognize my voice better than others.

I would like to have both my car and my navigation system speak in a British female voice, but understand a US male voice.

Any help would be appreciated... I seem to get the car to be British female, but then nav is British male or vice versa.... and every once in a while a US female is chosen.
  • grommetgrommet Member Posts: 445
"2. Headphones and a Remote were promised w/ the Rear Ent package but not delivered. The dealer is looking into it. "

Wireless headphones (and remote) are included in the (non-integrated) roof mounted dealer kit "all-in-one" DVD system, which you don't have. (Same LR3 dealer install DVD kit.) I don't think there is even a wireless transmitter in the factory system. Use the headphone jacks right next to the passengers -- no need for wireless.

Same test/diag mode as LR3 to my knowledge, but you can't re-enable or bypass anything... sorry.
  • scottphillipscottphillip Member Posts: 249
I complained to corporate via email and my salesman is sending me two wired headsets. Initially, the web site stated that the system included headsets. The website was corrected after my email. I believe that the sales brochure mentions headsets too. I don't have one here at work to verify this.

I did get a remote with the system. I haven't used it yet.
  • lr_saleslr_sales Member Posts: 13
The rear entertainment system should come with a remote but not head sets. The Rear entertainment in the full sized ranger rover gets both.

I will check out one of the range sports on our lot here in a second and see if what exactly you need to do in order to adjust voices.

I have had my new RRS for about 2 weeks now and love it (paid sticker for those wondering). I have one question that bewilders me on it though and haven't been able to find any info on it in the manual. Where or how do I get a cradle that fits my cell phone? In that center compartment it looks as though there is a plug in port for something. What is it? I have a blue tooth Motorola phone and the dealer told me that if I cradles the phone it would use the vehicle's roof antenna. I guess I am just wondering where to get the cradle. The other problem is there is only one power port so I can't charge the phone and run a radar at the same time.
  • lr_saleslr_sales Member Posts: 13
Ok here is what you do. Hit the hard button on the drivers side of the nav screen. This is the one that brings up the systems settings screen. Now hit the touch screen button that says voice settings. This will bring up all off the different languages for the nav to sound like. Select UK female then back up and make sure on the systems settings you have US male selected.

Now try and mess around with the radio, CD or navigation. As long as you speak clearly and distinctly the computer should have no problem understanding you and it should respond with a British female voice.
  • lr_saleslr_sales Member Posts: 13
You have to buy the cradle that matches your phone. The cradle is avaliable through the Parts department at your land Rover dealership. They should charge about 120 dollars for it but only certain phones can be cradled. The salesman should have given you a list of phones that work. If he did not tell me your phone model and I will see if it is on the list.
  • grommetgrommet Member Posts: 445
    The compatible list is here:

    http://www.landrover.com//gallery/global_resource_gallery_ver_3.0/2005_range_rover/downloa- - - ds_and_pdf/approved_phones_connection_procedures.pdf

When cradled, the phone will be charged and extend the antenna... and, of course, won't need Bluetooth. Without a cradled phone, the system is no better or worse than an aftermarket kit.
  • kandgkandg Member Posts: 53
Same here, the first impression when i saw the RRS was that it was the new freelander due to it's diminutive size comparatively to the RR and the LR3. It's only stickering about 5 above what i paid for my LR3 HSE7 (diplomatic sales) but I definitely didn't think it was worth it esp. in the area of versatility and value. It seemed more of a direct comparison with the X5. Nothing really new in the tech, other than the compressor and ecu

They both top out about the same speed but believe me you don't really want to be going that fast in these things. That's what i have cars for.
  • 3lakeswi3lakeswi Member Posts: 77
Thanks for the prompt response. Called my dealer and they ordered me a cradle. I have a Motorola V710 which they say works.
  • umbertobumbertob Member Posts: 39
I have a Moto V710, but was not aware there was a cradle available for Range Rover's PTI (thought this phone might work via Bluetooth only, if I was lucky). Can you get the part # from your dealer and post it? I am about to order a RRS and still haven't figured out if this phone would be compatible with the optional PTI. Thanks.
  • 2006rrs2006rrs Member Posts: 9
Anyone know if this phone works with PTI and if not, will one of the aftermarket bluetooth adapters work with it? Thanks.
  • joshcranfordjoshcranford Member Posts: 1
If you get any feedback at all on the matter of enabling the front DVD visuals, please let me know. I know it has to be possible.

I have the rear entertainment system in my RRS Supercharged.

    Much thanks

Actually, the Vesuvius car comes with Range Rover door sills, black oak wood trim, & Range Stormer wheels.
  • LandRoverOwnerLandRoverOwner Member Posts: 24
There is another power outlet on the rear of the center console right next to the aux input (under a cover). Use that one to power your phone.
  • 3lakeswi3lakeswi Member Posts: 77
I did discover that rear power outlet shortly after my post. I will also post the part number for the cradle when I get it. Or maybe I should say if I get it - the dealer seems to work super slow. The phone works slick with Bluetooth. The cradle enables more features - even simple things like redial don't work via BT. Also, living in Northern Wisconsin there is poor reception in most places so the roof antenna feature will be great.

Last question, anybody have the Sirius radio? Do you know if the NFL package is included or needs to be added? I have the account active and found the NFL channel but do not see where all the games will be broadcast from.
