Transmission rebuild

Hi Gang,
What is the best way to go about finding a reputable place to get a rebuilt transmission?
The dealer was kind enough to refer me to another shop, since he can only do a new transmission?

Well if the dealer refers you to a shop that does their non-warranty rebuilds, that's a good start. The dealer isn't going to send his used cars to a butcher shop. You could also search out a popular independent repair shop in your city (through Yelp, local paper that votes for "Best of Mudville" in various categories, and ask them who they recommend, or even an AAA recommendation is probably ok, or ask your local speed shop/tuner shop.
