Hi All,
Thanks for bearing with me as I get closer to the deal I want. I've gotten down to $248/month with $700 drive off fees, which is exactly where my question begins. Please see the attached quote ('quote 6-13'). Left hand column reads $700 in drive off fees, and I've confirmed it is inclusive of the $435.25 in fees in the right hand column. I wanted to know exactly what the $435.25 was made of, so the dealer sent me the second file (Fee breakdown 6-13).
1) Are these fees legitimate or are they bogus? What SHOULD I be paying in fees - I thought it was first month and DMV fee only. I want to be able to call them out if they are nonsense. If they aren't, are the price points right for CA? (zip code 90046).
2) The fees in 'Fee breakdown' total $388.25 - so what happens to the original $435.25? Assuming my new number is $388.25, I simply subtracted that from $700, which equals $312. This exposes another unexplained window of hidden fees. After requesting some explanation on this number, they sent me the third file (Fee breakdown 6-13-16). Now it gets hairy because there's no alignment with the previous docs. By this time I was tired, so using the third file as my reference, I only questioned the 'Reduction Tax/Sales Tax'. They explained this to be MSRP ($27,510) - Total price ($25,513) x .09. This does not equal $279, it equals $179. I got them there, and they had no explanation. That's where we left off for the day.
Knowing the ball is in their court and I should be expecting a call tomorrow, I want to be smart on all of this. Long story short, I want to know what fees I absolutely should be paying and which I should not. I know this is where they're trying to get me and I'm not going to let that happen. Also, is the bank fee/acquisition fee bogus? Based on the third doc I know it's not included here, but I want to know its validity. I think they worked numbers upwards in other areas (reduction tax/sales tax and the aforementioned $488) to compensate.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TREMENDOUS HELP. This is a difficult process and people like you make it so much easier. Really means a lot.

The problem with trying to make everything add up to your $700 initial payment is your initial payment is really $3700. Your $700 + $3000 rebate. So, to make it all add up, you have to add up everything involved that takes away from that $3700.
In other words, your $700 isn't for first payment + fees. Your $700 is just part of the $3700 that covers first payment + fees + Cap cost reduction + upfront tax on CCR, etc, etc..
Now, I didn't go through the list of everything to make sure it adds up to $3700. I'll leave that up to you.
Hope that helps.
