trunk wont lift easily like it did

I recently put the top down on my 2008 convertible and accidently left a pack of paper towel in there from shopping , without using the guard , went down ok and back up ... few days later went to get into my trunk and i opened it and was very hard holding it up and would not catch ... it was very very heavy .. please tell me I didnt damage my car , I have not dared to put the top up as I am afraid it would get stuck in the up position .. HELP

    Not sure but a quick guess is that you tweaked the hinges. With something under the top as it lays flat, the trunk wouldn't close properly and that's when the damage might have occurred--when the trunk went down after the top went down.

    Just speculating--you'd have to examine the hinges to know more.
