We are picking it up tomorrow, it arrived yesterday. We could have gotten it today probably but we are stain protecting the inside. We were going to leave it with the dealer until next week for the styling kit to be installed but our financing got all messed up with the new residual value and market value for the quarter. They would have had us paying out of pocket for it, I can order the parts I want from that kit online for about half the price so we opted to not get it now.

 Congratulations on the delivery of your new Caliber. Could you please tell me if you've tried the manual transmission and what you and your dh think of it. I've had bad luck, my saleswoman has left the dealer for another company and I don't know who's looking after my sale. My car was supposed to have been built on May 11 and so far no delivery! I sure hope my Caliber is not "filthy" with a mis aligned door. I also hope for all our sakes (buyers that is) that this does not become a complaint department for new Caliber buyers.

sure glad you bought a Caliber with a stick! You'll be happier with the manual tranny I believe.

Also, the back of your Caliber isn't boxy, take a look out the front of that picture of your Caliber's dash...that SUV you can see in front of you there...that thing has a boxy, goofy looking rear end! You made a great choice and you picked a nice color, looks sharp...I'm glad Dodge is offering a large array of colors on the new Caliber. Yellow, even. I've got to see a yellow one!

I travel daily to and from work by this Dodge dealership. They have had this yellow caliber (ugly) sitting there for 2 weeks now and nobody has bought it. It looks like a taxi cab! It has all yellow trim and small 15" tires on it, priced for 16K I believe. It is not a pretty car in yellow with small wheels w hub caps! I'm waiting to see how long it takes them to get rid of it.

That boxy, goofy looking rear end on that SUV is my OTHER car! I know it's a hate it or love it type vehicle but I do truely love my Aztek. So :P LOL!

    Just kidding. :D

    Sort of! ;)

Enjoy that Caliber..it will look even nicer with the chrome grille.

yeah, some more shots of the stick and while you're at it, turn that Pontiac Aztek around so we see the front of it this time in your picture of your dash/stick shift area, OK? :D

There's an Inferno Red Caliber at my local Dodge dealer with a 5-speed tranny selling for $13,950. Reasonable price, I must say, and that includes A/C and that pop cooler, but I didn't notice a stereo in the short little write-up in the online ad for the car. Do all Calibers come with an AM/FM/CD player?

She saw it yesterday and said she liked it but didn't. If you knew my Mom you would know that is her way of saying she is jealous but since she can't afford it she will say she doesn't really like it. ;)

I am really surprised that the dealer has a 5 speed sitting on the lot since we all had to order our mannys. For that price it HAS to be the SE and you are looking at a car with 16" tires and no automatic door locks or really any other feature. I doubt it has ABS or a CD player either.

A/C and Cooler are probably it's ONLY features.

ah well your very welcome .

The car looks great , I'm in a tough spot trying to choose what I want . This , the torrent of the patriot . Depending on when my car dies it can be any of the 3 haha. I so can't make a choice .

Thanks for posting the 5 speed pics! The calibers I test drove were all cvt...but, I wanted the 5 speed. My inferno red one should be here in about 4 weeks now! Thanks agai...nice looking ride!

We test drove the Torrent, nice enough SUV but it looks just like every other midsize SUV out there IMO. Especially the Equinox, considering it's the SAME car with a different front.

I like to have something different, hence the Aztek and now the Caliber.

I had someone do the slow down and pass me thing today so they could check out the car. I was behind a Jeep Wrangler with 3 guys in it. First they slowed down to 45mph and when I didn't pass they pretended to turn even though there wasn't a road to turn onto. Finally the guy in the back just waved me by, it was too funny.

:confuse: I saw a red Caliber on the road today occupied by a man and a woman with two children in the back and a yellow one all done up with graphics as a promo for a radio station. (I guess that shows that they're really eye catchers) I've only seen four altogether, they seem to be flying off dealer's lots but I don't know where the h*** they are going.

    gljvdgljvd Member Posts: 129
U sure they weren't checking you out caliberchic ?

Anyway , yea the torrent is a me too deal , however I get 3k off it . and with the features I want , it will come out to 24k vs the 19k of the caliber. Not bad for the size diffrence.

Btw , which stero did u get ? I need to listen to my metal and 90s alt rock when I drive . I was thinking of getting the music gate but keeping the base stero unit

apparently doesn't even have A/C for the $13,985. I looked on a few Caliber websites and one for that price will have the 5-speed tranny, 1.8L 4-cylinder motor but no A/C.

Does the base model not even have a base stereo installed from the factory? Anyone know? It might be better that way so you can buy the stereo you want for maximum rockage, eh? :shades:

my local Chrysler dealer's website(just 3 minutes ago)and I see those same two base Caliber's selling for not $13,985 but $14,985 and, yes, they both do have A/C with chill zone storage. At least. Power nothing, probably.

I like the Inferno Red color, though. And as for stereo I'd just go get an aftermarket stereo put in somewhere, anyway. That's not a deal-breaker. The other Caliber is a metallic steel blue or something like that. Not as interesting of a color in my book.

The engine size(1.8L)and the 5-speed manual tranny are good matches, too. I wonder if they missed the fact that they had A/C installed and needed to charge the extra $1,000 for it?

well if i buy , i'd go with a 2.0l engine and a the cvt (never learned to drive stick...) I'd prob just get the better system from the dealer . My current jeep is over a 150k miles and I plan to keep what i buy next for at least a 100k miles , which should be 7 or so years

I think Chrysler should use you in their advertising. The pictures and the car look great and your enthusiasm come across. I think you would be their best advertising.

My Dealer just called to let me know my car is in.
    Stone white/SXT/5 speed 1.8 liter.
I placed the order on March 29th. It took 9 weeks to date for it to arrive.
I have been watching the posts for sometime now mostly for problems with the vehicle.
It has been 10 years since I have bought a new car or any car for that matter.
I have been excited since the day I seen this vehicle on the dealers lot March 23rd (Thursday).
I drove the Ford Focus wagon, looked at the Pontiac Vibe. I talked to both the Ford dealer and the Pontiac dealer. I then went to the Dodge Dealer and seen the Caliber, the next day I went back and drove the Caliber (not a 5 speed).
I thought it over for the weekend and on Monday ordered the car.
I am hopeful the car will serve me as well or even better than my 1996 Ford Escort wagon (has been a great vehicle), which currently has 173,000 miles on it. I intend to continue to drive the escort to work until it won't run anylonger (hopefully 30,000 or more miles). Then it will be the Caliber's turn to take me to work.
So Dodge Boys n Girls, I sure hope you have done a great job building my new vehicle and that is will get me as many miles as my Ford Escort Wagon has gotten me, and with as little problems. If so I just might be back to buy another Dodge in the future, provided it is built by U.A.W. members, after all I am a U.A.W. member myself, although I am not employed by Dodge or Chrysler, but one of the big three.
Yes, I have taken some B.S. for buying a Dodge, lol.
Wish me luck in my new go to work car.
P.S. The Escort wagon has gotten as much as 40 mpg and currently gets me 33 mpg. going to work. I am expecting atleast 34 mpg with the Caliber going to work. I believe it will achieve :shades: ?

    hi silvercaliber

i love the tranny, though i am not a car efficianado so I basically like what i like without really being able to say why. I didn't have any problem adjusting to the cvt, i likely would never have known it was new or different technology...which is either a testament to the easy transitions from one to another, or a testament to my car ignorance.

as for the mileage, i am pretty happy with it. keep in mind that this is coming from a woman whoss last car ( a 93 subaru legacy) only got 14 mpg for the past year!

my very 2nd day with the caliber i had to travel 600 miles on the freeway and i got 30 mpg...needless to say i was ecstatic! that was 200% (right?...lol) improvement!!

the lowest mpg for everyday city/hwy (mainly city) driving was 23 mpg, and today was the highest when i filled the tank at 25.3 mpg. so as you can see, worst case so far is still MUCH better than what i had before!
    thanks for asking!

ps...i love my caliber! check it out here:

My new '07 R/T AWD drives so well I couldn't help but to think it was a mercedes-benz (sort of). Its quite and strangely powerful. I say that because I traded my '05 Neon that was 5spd manual and now the CVT is a change but even though the engine sounds & feels like taking off from the the light in 3rd gear, I can help to notice the cars trying to keep up. The "Drive" mode is actually quicker than the manual...very strange. Love the stares at the light.
And the 6 speed slapstick is a gem! For 20 grand you can;t beat it! You cant hear a sound inside and the suspension allows a perfect corner at 50 mph (dont try this in your subdivision, please) and I keep the MPG display on at all times. 26mpg using slapstick and 30mpg highway in Drive.
    Its a keeper. ;)

My 6-speed, 180HP R/T AWD is taking second place to the best car daimler has made: the 2008 SRT4, 310hp Caliber due out in a few months. Again, it's poetry in motion. I can almost thumb my nose at my neighbor who owns a Subaru WRX (jerk). :shades:

posted a couple photos of the Caliber, one shows the fake dual setup. the tips are stainless steel Magnaflow. They custom bent the exhaust pipe(s) and welded it all. cost me 150 bucks. One of the pipes are non-functional but it looks more "balanced" to me. The other picture is of my customized Sport Trac. I will post new Caliber photos after I get the new wheels etc.

    Oh, I see!

So what brand rain gaurds did you go with? I was thinking about wanting for the after marked ones to come out but they look real sharp. Are they the Dodge brand? Did you have trouble with the rear door installation since they aren't in channel?
  • Options
    mbrymbry Member Posts: 9
Those are the rain guards/vent visors from Dodge. They charge way too much---Like 90 bucks & they dont even go "in channel". They just stick to the outside :(
I like the ones that are on my truck that go in channel, they look a lot better IMO. The black accessories would look good off your Cali. :)

I checked my Canadian Caliber Brochure last night and it says that All Calibers come with an AM/FM/Single CD/MP3 Jack, 4 Speaker Stereo standard.
There are various upgrades available to the Stereo but they all come with At Least this Sound System.

Very nice! I see! Like those window rain guards, tell us more.
Looks like you did your homework ahead of time. My R/T does look like a glorified Civic with only one exhaust. Still wish it could sound near my neighbors WRX.

:shades: hey there Silvercaliber, Yes the Escort is a manual 5 speed/1.9 liter.
I might need more info from you to respond to your question (s) regarding the tranny, shifting and clutch of the 1.8 liter/ 5 speed Caliber.
Please be patient for a response from me as I am driving the caliber very little so far....I have only had it two days now, and I am not driving it to work as of yet. The caliber currently has 150 miles on it. I have been driving it a bit around town after work.
So far I am really liking the car and have zero issues at this time.
I don't intend to give any gas mileage reports until the vehicle has around 1,500 miles on it, as it has been my experience with other new vehicles it isn't until then that I seen improvements on the mileage.
I intend to do some driving a bit over the Holiday weekend, lol, the car has yet to see the freeway/express way. I haven't had the vehicle over 62 mph YET!
I am not a car buff by any means. But let me tell you, I have been very very excited about this vehicle every since I seen and sat in this car, even ordering it and taking delivery.
    Any thing but Cute? hehe
P.S. lol, what was Dodge ever thinking a "Fairy" couldn't get into a Caliber, lol. One must see the commercial to understand. I am Fairy hear me Roooooar! lol.
    HAPPY MOTORING

I am still getting used to the shifting and clutch.......as of now, I have around 200 miles.
Let me get some more time behind the wheel I am babying this piece of machinary for the time being.
