2015 BMW 4 series 335xi - ending lease early or hold on?

I have a 2015 335xi 4 series with a 36 month lease, 36K miles. I will be way under - probably 22K instead of 36K or so (2 years to go).

I would like to get out now - but the termination options seem quite poor (they have set a $48K payoff).

2 questions:
1. Can I get out and buy a new Volvo XC90 - will that dealer help me?
2. If I stick it out and only have 22K on the lease, what should I do?

Ending leases early is rarely cheap. Buying an expensive SUV with few discounts won't make it any better. Drive the car for another 22 months, then see is you have any equity on a trade. If not, take it to lease end and turn it in.
