    Isuzu Axiom?

    (goes to look)

Yep. Axiom it is, though this one has some extra Volvoesque lamps up on the D-pillar.

I wouldn't have guessed the Isuzu, I must admit - but the grey one at the end may not be badged as a Lexus if this is taken in Europe. In UK we don't get that model - GX470 - except as a grey import - or the LX 470 either. Here, the grey car is more likely to be a Toyota Land Cruiser, while the bigger LX470 is sold as the Land Cruiser 100. I believe some Euro markets do get the Lexus versions, though, so it might be either - the licence plate surround looks Lexus, but for some markets the external wheel is optional, so I think Toyota use that tail there.

    Pretty ugly. Frightening, actually.

Like they took a design from the 70s and tried to bring it in to the 90s. For that reason I'll guess it's from Eastern Europe.

It's the same old Volga that's been selling in Russia since the 70's but with a restyled front end.

#7849 but if you do here's another shot>

This 1952 model was styled by Vignale, closely resembling the Ferraris he did in that era...anyone?

Good guess, that does look like an OSCA grille but not it is not an OSCA, it's not even Italian (except for the body). ;)

It's an AMC wagon... late 60s? Was it called a Rambler?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,509
    Ambassador?

Looks pretty good with the raised whites and styled wheels. Might make a pretty good hot rod!

That car is a Rambler American wagon, probably a 1967 model. I don't see any side marker lights which would make it a 1968 model.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yep, it's a '69 Rambler 440, one of a couple of thousand supplied with the V8.

The wheels aren't OEM, they came from a Rebel or something.

    Here's another from the '60s>

That rather odd looking beast is a Jensen. I can't remember what it was called, but it was a precursor to the Interceptor. Had a V-8 in it; Chrysler job if I remember, probably a 361.

2009 BMW 335i, 2003 Corvette cnv. (RIP 2001 Jaguar XK8 cnv and 1985 MB 380SE [the best of the lot])

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Jensen it is, a '63 C-V8 Mk II, the earlier MkIs had the Chrysler 361 under the hood but the Mk II sported a 383.

It was indeed succeeded by the Interceptor.

    Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona.

I don't know who the guys are, but I bet the pic is older than I am.

that's the Ferrari Daytona from the canonball run. Let's see, Brock Yates on the right, and someone else?

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Right, that's the Cannonball winning 1970 Daytona 365GTB/4.
The guy on the right is indeed the creator of the Cannonball, Brock Yates of Car & Driver and Wyoming, New York.

Shame on youse for not knowing that the other guy is Yates' co-driver Dan Gurney, the only American to win an F-1 race in a car of his own design (Spa 1967 in a Gurney Eagle). Gurney was one of those multi-talented race drivers that no longer exist. He's won driving stock cars, Trans-Am, Can-Am, Endurance racers and Indy Cars. He still runs All-American Racing, a successful builder of Indy cars.

They don't make them like Dan any more. :shades:

It's either a Special, Super, or Roadmaster. My guess is the Roadmaster has 4 portholes. So tthe Super or Special are a logical choice. Who knows how to tell the difference.

I think the "Eight" on the grill means it has the Fireball Eight inside the bonnet.

I wouldn't put too much credence in that one Odie, DeLorean
    died in March 2005.

Perhaps you have him confused with Mal Bricklin. Although very much alive, his chances of suceeding with a car company are about the same as DeLorean's IMHO. ;)

I think that '51 Buick is a Special. It's a 2-door sedan, and I don't think they would have offered a Roadmaster in that style. Possibly not a Super, either. The Super and Roadmaster were also on a longer wheelbase than the Special or Century, and that '51 pictured looks pretty small to me. So I'd guess a Special.

Well, Is that a '67ish Chevelle in the middle? And the small tailfins of a white Peugout? Is the cab a MB Ponton?

no idea on the flick or actress.

The Chevelle is a '65 or '66. The movie (Un Homme et Une Femme/A Man and A Woman) was released in 1966.
Thee tailfins indeed belong to a Puegeot 404, the cab is also a Pug, a 403.

The actress is the lovely Anouk Aimee who co-starred w Jean-Louis Trintignant. It's definitely a romantic chick-flick but JLT plays a race driver and there's a lot of great cars and racing scenes in it. His cousin was F-1 driver Maurice trintignant.

Also a white Fiat 500 coming towards the camera at the left of the shot. This film was a classic, but all I can remember is the theme music....
