Even though we get down on the 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk sometimes, we can rest easy knowing that at least it's not the Liberty.

I dunno. I'm no fan of the Liberty but it was a Jeep in most senses of the word. Look at the picture you chose? I'm not sure the Renegade gets you over that pile of rocks.

"There were some electronic gremlins and minor fit-and-finish problems within the first 10,000 miles. Not catastrophic stuff, but annoying."

That sums up the ownership experience of our two Jeeps. An XJ (new) and a WK (used).

Nothing that left us stranded, just annoyance after annoyance...

"..most notably a witless transmission that some readers think would be fixed with a software update (we aren't keeping this thing long enough to find out)"

That really is a disservice to your readers, to the Jeep and to the purpose of the Long Term test mission.

    Very disappointed.

@legacygt - For what it's worth, MT took a stock Renegade over Black Bear Pass in Colorado...that was more than I expected out of it.

Desmo, when you speak, I listen. The Renegade is currently for sale internally, but we just booked a last-minute service for next Wednesday morning, which should give us time to evaluate the reflash and post our impressions here before a new owner emerges.

    "...especially as the transmission improves"

Tell us, exactly how is that supposed to happen? Transmissions only get better with age when their fuzzy logic adapts to the driver. But you've had this over a year with no improvements.

Are you counting on the mythical software reflash? I wouldn't, because other ZF 9-spd automatics have the same problems.

Are we going to get an update about the new transmission software? Thanks
