Sometimes starts and barely runs

I have a 2010 T&C. Once in a while(may be twice a week or once in two months it starts but runs as though it is firing on only one cylinder. similar to when a vehicle may continue to run after the ignition is shut off. The engine will continue to run in this manner until I turn off the key but will not respond to pushing on the accelerator. I have checked the computer code right after this faulty start and the readout shows only dashes. The dealer has replaced the fobs and fob module under recall. The car did the same start failure before & after the recall. Sometimes up to 8 or 10 tries at required to get the car started. I have not herd that anyone else has had this problem. the dealer won't admit that anyone else has complained of this and they have no suggestion of a cure. Can anyone help me?

There's not much you can do with intermittent failures like this except to have the test equipment ready for when it happens. Ideally, first thing you'd want to test is fuel pressure, since most times fuel delivery issues don't throw a code. There are lots of possibilities here.

We have a 2010 T&C that used to intermittently start, would idle really rough, and the A/C wouldn't work. We found out it was the TIPM (total integrated power module). The TIPM sends power to all systems in the car, so things get really bad when it's not working right. The TIPM has a notorious problem of having FAULTY FACTORY RELAYS installed on the interior circuit boards. Don't spend $1200 for a new TIPM that has these relays - you're throwing away your money and not solving the problem. I replaced the TIPM on my 2010 T&C with a rebuilt unit (cost $325) and it solved everything! Car runs great, A/C is working again, no problems with starting up. I'm not saying you need/should purchase your TIPM from where I bought mine, I'm just saying to verify that the internal relays are not the factory-installed pieces of garbage. If the relays haven't been replaced, there's a big chance the problem will resurface.
