Rodeo shifter goes into park, trans does not

2000 Isuzu Rodeo Shifter goes into park but the dash indicator and trans will only go into neutral and drive, just no reverse or park.

Is it actually in park--that is, is the vehicle unable to roll?

no sir it is only in neutral and will roll away.
