heater won't turn on, or just shuts off

This issue is a new one for this vehicle. (I have an a/c leak, so I don't use that of course), but when I turn on the heater or the defrost, floor and dash vents, nothing happens. It comes on whenever it feels like after I start driving 2-5 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't come on at all. Once, it came on for a couple minutes, then shut off while driving, and never came on again. My husband said its not the blower motor that it has to be something loose or a bad connection. The rear vents seem to still work while the front ones aren't.

Any ideas?

You should have the HVAC system scanned for trouble codes. This may point you in the right direction. You could also try the "jiggle test" if you can reach under there and move some wiring harnesses around.
