lost reverse. winds into second

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon SLT 5.3 liter 241,xxx
Runs and drives great no issues ever until today
I got to work no issues
Leave work with no reverse trans winds into second gear
Was no pop bang grinding ever just all of the sudden
I am lost

    It's really not possible to diagnose modern automatics remotely. You'll have to take it to a specialist who may be able to perform external tests as well as a physical inspection of linkage, fluids, etc.

    Possibly a broken sun shell gear, that's fairly typical of your symptoms. Just a guess from this far away.
