Wipers get stuck on full or high speed and won't shut off. What is the fix for this?

The wipers on my 2003 Tahoe get stuck on full or high speed and won't shut off. I have sometimes been able to stop and shut off the car taking the key out, and then restart to correct the situation, but that doesn't always work. Any advice?
Thanks!

I think most likely a defect in the circuit board of the wiper motor. GM wiper motor are known for a pretty high rate of failure due to this. Of course, it's just a guess. You might try wiggling the connector while the motor is running and see if it shuts off. That might be one easy test. I think it's called a "pulse board" that is usually the culprit.
