1999 Nissan Pathfinder when I turn on the headlights the tail and brake lights go out when I turn the headlights back on the tail and brake work again. What could be causing this to happen?

I would take a guess on the stalk switch being bad but that's just a guess. Probably if it were my vehicle, I would of course go through the preliminaries of checking the wiring around the fuse box for any signs of damage, but my main focus would be to pull out the stalk switch and test all its functions with a volt/ohm meter, as well as examine the wiring and connectors that go to it.
