How does the FS manage to provide a floor for cargo? When the 2nd row is folded, is there simply a gap where the console would normally be located?
Yes, but hasn't been a problem so far in hauling anything. Extra leg space for 3rd row passengers is the big plus for not having it.

I did find something called a safari light bar which is similar and is supposed to fit a ford freestyle sel, here:

Not quite as cool as a bull bar, but should do the job. I am going to get one and will let you know how it turns out.
I don't think you'll find too many people interested in putting a "bull bar", cow catcher, brush guard, or what ever you wish to call it on a Freestyle. These are family cars, not safari vehicles. If you really wanted to be ruff and tumble in a Ford you should have bought an Explorer. A bull bar on a Freestyle is like dressing up a bride on her wedding day with boxing gloves and a hockey mask.
Just one man's opinion.

You are probably right but I bought a Freestyle instead. And now I need some protection for my emergency lights, bumper and grill when I have to take the Freestyle on back roads at night, which is often. So I too, am looking for a brush guard that will fit.
And no matter what the bride wore, I'm still married to her.

I ask as I just purchased a freestyle limited and think the safari light bar would add nicely to the look of my freestyle, but I do worry about cost...
Thanks.
