It says 19 and that's exactly what you should be seeing.
Thankfully, I don't have to endure city driving.
Although I can afford the car, my heavy foot would put me in the poor house if I was seeing 13 mpg.
had this car for 2 weeks now, ~850 miles on it, 4 fill ups, all premium, 10mpg-12mpg city, 15ish highway, no ac.
I know its also on how u drive, I drive real fast and reckless with my old car, but I really changed my driving for this one. Anyone can suggest anything to me?
I drive about 16 miles each way (about 6 miles city and 10 miles suburb) to work in about 30-40 minutes as well. I get low 18MPG w/ hard driving and a little over 19 w/ easy driving (on the right lane and leave 2 or 3 cars space in front of me so that I don't need to use break/acceleration too often).
Here's my suggestion:
Take you car on at least a tank's worth road trip over the weekend. Get on the Interstate & open 'er up (70-80mph) the entire way. if you can, go faster. Trust me, that is exactly what is engine wants to do. It'll make it happy and run more efficiently, even while stuck in city traffic.
Be wary of the police, of course. If it isn't legal to drive as fast as I'm recommending around your parts, maybe invest in a nice, top-o'-the-line radar/LASER detector (~$300). I tend to drive rapidly (not aggressively, mind you [I HATE tail-gaters]), but I'm still able to get 19+ mpg in the city and 26-27 mpg highway miles.
I'm guessing, without doing the math, that this makes fiscal sense on its own. If you have somewhere to go that's 350-375 miles away, well then all the better.
Hope this helps.

As for driving on highway straight, i did goto a 80 mile pure highway trip, i reset the meters in the car and it told me 20 mpg on pure highway at about 70mph. This should be at 25 right??? Please any suggestions are great.
thank you
I also have changed my way of driving, being less aggressive than I did with my old I30. I have to say I am disappointed, expecting 17-19MPG as the marketing literature says. The local Infinity dealer service department says that it should pop up after 12,000 miles. I average about 3000-4000 miles/year, so that's 3 or more years away for me - not pretty. I sure do hope the improvement at the 3500 mile mark is true, per previous posts.
One thing I did notice, if I look at the computer generated MPG and my own gallons/miles calculation the computer is low by about .5MPG pretty consistently. I wish it were better though, since I miss driving more aggressively with a car that is surely meant to be driven that way.
Enjoy,
Bob
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who's average speed during the complete commute stays fairly high, with little city driving.
I knew what I was getting myself into... told myself to look elsewhere, but the test drive just had me hooked.
Luckily, it's been a bit better than expected.
I do have that magical right foot though...
HA
That was for you!
Here is the kicker, turns out officially Infiniti is not reporting any known issues or problems with this but unofficially it turns out the dual throttle body fuel intake could be causing issues when the car is not warmed up. There is apparently maybe going to be an update to the firmware of the computer but I have no clue.
One thing I can tell you is that a 7-8mpg difference is a huge cost in one year $1400 roughly for driving 15k miles a year. Infiniti better get their crap together and fix this issue quickly or I can honestly say there won't be another (this is my second) G35 in the future.
-- Incredibly nice car but upset customer.

dont understand your post-- what are they officially not reporting?? is there a recall??
Even under the harshest of driving, I've never been able to get under 17.9.
27.7 is my highest yet, being all highway with the ICC set to 75.
Here's my drive to work the other day.
50/50 Backroad/Highway... I'm happy.
The new EPA is getting closer but city driving will always be descrepency because they are not real world test (they use math to estimates it). Last night I went to test out the G, the computer registered 11.6, this is probably the extreme case since the test car always run around the blocks of 3 miles with stop and go traffic, hardly long enough to go above 50 without running a lights or hit something.
So, the shorter the trips and the more traffic you run into, the bigger the difference will be with the EPA. Of course I found the gas pedal quite sensitive, this together with a powerful engine surely use more gas.
IS and ES are different driving experiences with the G though.
I was more than a little worried, but for whatever reason, the G impressed me from the beginning an I took the chance.
I actually expected worse than what I'm getting now so I'm not upset.
I will say though, over the past 1.5 weeks, my MPG has dropped.
Winter fuel blends and the colder climate are the culprits.
Can't wait till summer is back!
I am considering either a 2008 BMW 328xi or a 2008 G35x. I don't like the fact the BMWs come with RFT. I like the G35x but am concerned regarding the MPG.
Can you let me know what you are averaging in city driving with the G35x.
Couldn't do the S model... my commute through unplowed NE roads wouldn't allow for it.
The X is still a blast to drive though!
Right now I'm at 17 MPG since the highway drive so lets see how long this lasts. Im also am going by the MPG that the display is telling me, i haven't really paid close attention to my gas MPG.. Not sure if the car's MPG count is off or not?
You can safely go by that
With winter fuel blends and colder weather... prepare for a slight drop
Filled up Monday ~7AM, checked the milage averages Friday, ~9PM.
MPG 19.9
AVGSpd: 22.6 mph
Mine's a 2007 Sport 6MT with pretty much everything and 1800 miles on the odo.
How about someone who is had the car past the "break-in" period letting us know what type of mileage they are getting. Has is really improved???
So far, the MPG is te only thing scaring me away from the car.
Thanks
My first tank of gas (commuting only) after the TSB for the Intelligent Cruise Control (which gives you an ECU reflash) was just shy of 20mpg for a full week's worth of commuting (see previous page).
I have a 6mt though, so especially compared to the 5at YMMV.
BTW, a set of clubs fit nicely in the trunk.
I got the car in the middle of September. My 1st tank was 22.5 MPG running the A/C, the 2nd tank up to about 3500 miles were all similar between 23.2 and 23.7 MPG, also running the A/C. After 3500 miles (from mid November onwards) and no A/C my mileage is generally 24.2 - 24.6 from fill up to fill up (usually with between 17 and 18.5 gallons pumped). With my usual driving habits, my highest MPG has been 25.6, although I was only able to keep this up for about half the tank.
On the highway, I tend to drive mostly 70 MPH + or - 5 MPH depending on traffic.
I'd consider asking the dealer where you purchased the car from.
Winter blends and cold weather do contribute to lower MPG, but 8?... that's just silly.
