Steps to pick an engine to swap
Hi all. When I watch shows, watch videos, or read articles about engine swaps, I am amazed at how some folks can swap engines into almost anything to add power. I am just curious. What are some common steps that are taken to ensure you pick the best engine to swap in a car? How do you know if an engine will be compatible with a car frame? What kind of standards are in place to ensure easier swaps?

I always tell people to find someone who has already done what you want to do---being the "pioneer" on some unique engine swap is always a bloodbath--better that you benefit from the experience of someone who has already explored the territory.
You definitely need a game plan that includes not only the engine but the rest of the car as well. With extra power comes extra demands on brakes and suspension. You don't want to create a "Frankencar"----well, unless you really do want some kind of barely driveable monster to show off.
What kind of swap are you considering?
