Barely will start

Need ideas. 175,000 miles, when starting sounds and runs like it's only hitting on 2 or less cylinders. I pulled all 4 plugs, cylinders 1 and 4 were "wet" but otherwise all were okay. Plugged all four plugs into their coil packs and rolled the engine over, all four are firing. Pulled valve cover and check timing chain, all was good. Rolled engine over and observed valves, all operated as designed. Put it all back together and now I am stuck. Raw fuel smell is pretty strong ( in closed garage) so I don't think it's fuel related. I'm thinking crank or cam position sensors. But damn! They are $74.00 plus, each. I did hookup a code reader and there were no codes recorded. It's my daughters car she is on a budget. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do a compression test and see where you're at with that.

If you are getting spark and injector pulse (fuel) then the PCM is seeing the cam and crank sensors.
