My 1989 Mazda B22 has this thing where I turn the key, it clicks once, then no power.

Could the problem be a bad relay or starter? Grandpa had this truck since '89. Would like to keep it for as long as possible

Any info will be a great help. Only trust 2 or 3 shops on this island but they are always swamped when i try to schedule a car day.

Sounds like bad battery cables/connections. Be sure to check both cables and both ends and clean and tighten them.

Other lesser possibilities would be a bad starter relay/solenoid, a bad starter motor, or a frozen engine.
