Simple question about headlights

Hi,
Excuse my ignorance, but does Sonata 2009 headlight low beam is a projector housing or reflector? if it is a projector, is it legally fine in the states (specifically NJ) to replace the halogen with HID?

    My understanding is that as long as you have a clear white light nobody is going to hassle you---of course, if you blind a cop car or something like that, then yeah, you might get a lecture. No color or tinted headlights allowed.
