pt cruiser stuck in reverse

was driving last night just fine. put it in park put in reverse and the shifter lever just gave way. Had it towed to my house got battery out tray out air filter out but cant even move to shift it manually from the trans mission

If that's what you mean, I think you broke your shifter cable or the bushing holding it fell out---this bushing could be on the trans end or the shifter end.
