1988 Trooper modifications

I would like to update my 88 Trooper with Honda or Toyota engine, transmission, drive train, instrumentation, and electronics etc. if possible. Would appreciate hearing if this sort of mod has been done before or if you could point me to research/reference sources. I have considered going to a auto customizing shop. I have set a budget of 25k.

It's certainly not a common mod and you're on the right track by thinking that you need to find someone who has done it before. Being a "pioneer" in an engine swap can be expensive and extremely time-consuming. It's much better to follow in someone else's footsteps.

In any event, you'd better hire some skilled labor, because there will definitely be fabrication involved, as well as electronics. Not sure how difficult it's going to be to mate a FWD engine to a RWD car. Doesn't sound easy.
