I've had my neon for 4 years and have had nothing but issues!! 1. Some switch in the steering column goes out and cost over $1000 to fix! Normally I would have said "forget it!" But I just bought the car 2. A/C goes out in the middle of summer and I mean the whole A/C! 3. Rear defrost goes out right before rainy season 4. Reverse goes out. Still drives good, just can't back up and if I park I have to be able to pull straight threw or roll back 5. Power steering goes out (so we thought?) But it wasn't that, it was the pullie that runs the power for the whole car! So nowe the car is just running on what juice is left in the battery 6. Now it's Overheating!!! I give up!!

The car was 12 years old when you bought it, and now is 16 years old. Things do start to wear out. Moving on to a newer vehicle may be the best solution. I tend to keep my vehicle a long time, but once they get to about 10 years old and very high mileage, the cost of maintaining the car starts to climb, and I reach a point where it's not worth it.

Yeah I think it's time to bail on an old car that wasn't very good the day it was built. Don't throw good money after bad. It's a painful decision, but in the long run I think the best one.
