Hi, Left a dealership this evening with initial numbers on a 2017 LExus NX 200T F sport AWD with 12K miles for 36 months. Want to go back with a reasonable counter and was hoping for some help from you guys because I know I'm being robbed since it's middle of the month for them. MSRP- 44,891 Selling- 42,791 Tax- 2,990.61 (NJ) Fees- 1,018.25 Cap- 1,500 Thanks in advance.

Hi there. I priced out a NX within $20 of the given MSRP. The invoice is $41,950 and the TMV for Trenton, NJ (Used as a base) is just above that at $42,100. I'd first work on the sale price then the rest of the steps/payment will fall in line. If the dealer doesn't play ball, there's plenty of other dealers in the area that may do better!

The tax number is wrong for a lease in NJ. NJ doesn't tax the full purchase price. The tax is collected upfront, but it should be closer to $1100-$1200.

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and a reconciliation of that number to the selling price. Also, find out the full amount due at signing. Did they quote a payment?
