2011 Q5 3.2L Engine Air Filter Housing

new to this... not sure if proper to post here. hoping so. I removed the engine air filter housing (7 screws) and replaced the filter. I can not seem to get the two 'halves' of the plastic housing to realign before refastening the 7 screws. Is there some trick to this? I have tried slowly and patiently to no avail.
