2008 Escape brakes

Hello,
I have a 2008 Escape. I have changed all the brakes, and have bled the air off them. The problem I am having is that now the brake pedal will go almost all the way to the floor. But it does not happen all the time. The master cylinder has fluid and the left rear brake squeals all the time. I am at my wits end on this one. Can anyone help please.

If there are not any leaks then the master cylinder is faulty. Soft pedal mainly means a leak of faulty master cylinder.

Bad master cylinder for sure. A bad booster will make the brakes harder to push.

You might also try a gravity bleed by opening all 4 bleeders and just letting the air/fluid drip out. This takes some time but it might catch some air that you didn't get. Also look really carefully at the back of your master cylinder for any signs of leakage onto the back of the brake booster.

Hi Everyone, I have a 2009 Ford Escape with the intermittent no-brakes problem. The pedal goes soft and to the floor w/o warning! Yikes. The brake fluid has been bled, the master cylinder has been replaced. My excellent mechanic and I thought this solved the problem. 6 weeks later, the no-brake thing happened again. My next service call will be the ABS module. There have not been any warning lights on the dashboard, though I read someplace else online that the module can go bad w/o warning lights. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm a nervous driver at all times, live in a Village with steep hills, do 100% local driving, and definitely don't want to hurt a human, damage property, or myself. I am the 2nd owner of the Escape, and there's 99K miles on the vehicle.. Monthly payments for another vehicle are the one reason I haven't traded in the Escape. This Escape has also had other large service issues -- an antifreeze leak that thankfully was covered under the extended warranty, the steering column seized (who designed it as all one piece?!) and now this. I have a 2008 limited edition escape (v6, 4wd). My ABS module is malfunctioning; I have four dash lights as a result, and a constant "check brake system" alarm. The brakes are fully functional and the only problem I have is locking up the tires when you slam on the brakes, duh. I would like to get it fixed, but the dealership cost is well over a thousand dollars; the OBD2 tool to do it myself is over three thousand. Is there ANY other way to fix the problem? I have heard some say that it might not be the whole module, but rather just a component of it.
