I'm in the process of leasing my very first car in the US and went to a dealership today. They ran my credit check and said I was approved. After a short while, I was asked if I can provide my SSN card so that they can make a photocopy of it, along with my Visa, etc. It was an authorized Mazda dealership where I went. Should I be worried that they have a photocopy of my SSN ?

I wouldn't be worried, but not sure why your driver's license wouldn't be good enough. They might need your social to check your credit, but you shouldn't have to use it to prove identification.

Checking my social for credit makes sense since I'm leasing, however I'm not sure why they needed a photocopy of my SSN card for their records. This is what is worrying me.
