I have a Base MT and got the leather steering wheel cover from collegehillshonda. Works fine on the manual. First time I've come across the word "obverse" in installation directions.
Rostra says they have two models to prototype for ahead of the Fit but that they will have a cruise control out in "something more than three months" for it. Ken
Hi, I am getting my All Season Mats tomorrow and noticed that there are instructions to prep for the install. Can you believe this? Couldn't Honda have prepped it up from the factory? :confuse:
Has anyone gone through the install steps and things to look out for? It requires cutting out the carpet and mats and there is a template for the rear seats. Want to make sure I do this right the first time. Thank you!
I did front mats per their instructions. Note that the current cheap carpet is partially cut for the holes/slots, with small sections not yet cut. Cut out these little additional parts (note, not on top, per instructions). Then inside you have to cut the thin rubber liner (if this is also not pre-cut) and then the thin foam under that. Then the hooks just push back through the hole and fit as per the diagram. My pre-cut holes were in about the right place.
For the rear, I chose not to cut the holes, but left the rears just sitting there. I think the reason they want you to fasten the rear passenger is that the carpet could interfere with the air bag weight sensor. I saw that as small risk. There was a posting in one of the other 31 FIT sub-groups (within last week+) that commented that the pre-cut hole for the rear was not in the correct place and he had to use the template to find the correct location. So, watch out when doing rear.
Here's what my Sirius Starmate Replay looked like, getting power from the lighter outlet, and plugged into the aux port... mounted on a bracket I made from a radar detector mount:
This is the final install, using an all-in-one plug I ripped off of my Sirius Replay boombox. Note the power is now hard-wired, as well as the aux port has been made available again. The added benefit is I get use of the storage bin again:
And a close-up:
I'll get y'all a final pic of the antenna install, once it stops raining.
Thank you for the headsup! I will do the same and just intall the front fasteners tomorrow when I get it. I'm not too concerned about the rear carpets not being in place. I don't understand the trouble to install it that way. If they were worried about sensors, what about things like bookbags and other things that you might leave on the floor. :confuse: If Honda really wanted us to install it, they should have pre-installed it beforehand.
I looked at two different after market arm rests for the Fit. Has anyone installed one? How difficult is it? Is it worth it? Both were listed at $135.00 (one leather, one vinyl). I guess they install in the cup holder behind the emergency break.
OK, my Base fit came with just 2 keys. I want a third key for a spare. I called my local dealer to find out if I could have one made. Turns out he has no blanks and would have to order one. "How .much?", I asked. It's $40 for the blank + a $55 service charge to make the key and program the immobilizer chip. With tax, that's $103. FOR A CAR KEY! To console me, he said a Sport key was $225.

Yeah, this is the trouble with the engine immobilizer. Gone are the days when you can just walk in to a key maker and have it done in 2minutes for $2. It's really silly how they only give us one main key. I'm making a list of things to tell Honda that they should change for the next model, and this is one of them.
I'm not sure if this is a good look or not. I wanted more chrome on my black fit and the attraction I had to the base wheel covers (yes, really) wore off pretty quickly.
I was initially going to buy new alloy, polished alloy, or chrome-plated wheels. However, it became obvious in a hurry that my plan of saving money by buying an economy car and by buying the base model would quickly be ruined by spending $400-$800 on new wheels!
I was at a local variety store the other day and spotted "chrome-look" wheel covers for $25 for a set of four! I figured, "what the heck?" I mean I can try them out, see what I think and I won't be out much if I switch back to the factory wheel covers. I can also do this as a way to decide what type of wheel I might want to get some day.
I like them, especially considering how bright and shiny your car is! They make the black look classier in the pictures, though they might not look as well in person. It sure is a cheaper solution to making it look unique than getting new wheels...
If you search a Maggie Rack you will find a roof rack that can be installed on any kind of vehicle. This is what I plan on using once my FIT arrives. I'm fed up with Thule not being able to get the specs for their rack.
...but if you look at the computer images of the body structure, there is no difference in most of the car (roof area included) between the NA model and the European model, which has the sunroof as a factory option. (let me find them and I can post them)
Also, Europeans are just as obsessed about safety as Americans (the next generation European Jazz will no doubt sport the full complement of safety features like the new Yaris), so I'm not sure why this would make a difference. Does the IIHS or the NHTSA offer a pole crash test yet?
The blank is $40 and there's a $55 service fee to imprint the chip and make the key - and you have to bring both of the other keys with you. There are costs to having that immobilizer chip in the key. Total cost before tax - $95. If there's a cheaper way, I'd sure like to know.
Hi, I am wondering how many keys people got with their sport fits. I got just one and that will be a problem given my tendancy to lose everything... Thanks.
Officially you should get two (2) keys with sport, both with remotes in the key head. You should also have gotten a number tag with the keys which has something to do with the programming code. This is also what is stated in the manual, so if you got only one, then go complain and get your second key.
So I bought the cargo cover and installed it. Installation is easy, but there's a couple-inch gap between the seat-back of the back seat and the cargo cover. Since the whole point is to hide what might be in the cargo space, why did Honda leave that gap?
Check out my blgo I put my rack on my Fit. drknife.com/blog
I have been to REI and looked at the different clips for the Q-towers. I think the clips for the Fit will be close to the clips for the Toyota Matrix which is a pair of 83's and a pair of 116's I think the difference is the hieght at the front versus rear.
I thought the same thing at first when I installed the cover but as someone pointed out, the gap is there because the seats do recline. That was a nice surprise for me.
Flip the little lever on the top outside edge of the rear seatback and ease back. The seat bottom moves up a little also. Or consult your owner's manual.
Has anyone found an UK,EU or Japan Web site to order Honda Accessories? Such as: Arm Rest, Passenger side Sun visor / with Mirror, Blue tooth, Height adjustable drivers side seat frame.
I wouldn't mess with the seat for several reasons. 1. It will cost a LOT. I'm not sure how much it would actually run, but the seat has the side airbags in it, tons of wiring, weight sensors, etc. Then the shipping costs will probably be insane as well...it was the shipping costs that turned me off of buying a set of 14" Honda Jazz alloy wheels. It would have been more than the cost of the wheels!
2. Compatibility. The seat itself appears to be the same as other markets, but that doesn't mean the electronic components and connections are. It would be an expensive proposition to pay for the seat (and the shipping! :surprise: ) just to find it doesn't work.
3. Finding a dealership to import it. Many dealerships will only order parts that have US part numbers. Reliable dealerships that do import things (like College Hills Honda) do so from other English speaking countries. Problem is the major English-speaking countries that have driver's-side adjustable seats (Australia, Ireland, UK) all drive on the left side of the road.
Have you purchased a Fit yet, or are you just looking? If the seat height adjuster is such an issue, I would either look at a different car, or wait until the next generation and cross my fingers that they have a height adjuster.

So have you reclined the seat? Does the cargo cover fit properly now? I've read on another forum that the cargo cover has a huge gap even with the reclined seat, and a huge gap between the other end and the hatchback door as well. Can you tell me if it fits properly? Thanks in advance.
Wow. I checked out the UK site's accessories page for the Fit and the selections are comparable to the Mini's. I wonder why its so hard for Honda to offer them here. They are just accessories. Dealer makes money installing them.
Some stuff I would consider: NAV Sunroof 8 disc changer Center Arm rest Subwoofer Side body protector Front/Rear bumper protector Rear parking sensors
Don't know why this is offered but it sounds cool: Cool box fridge Fire extinguisher - why would u need this for?
The car will be like $20K after which is still way below the base Mini.

If you recline the seat, there is still a teeny gap between the seat and the cargo cover. From the hatchback side, there is also a teeny gap but you can't really see if you are worried about valuables.
Problem is the reclined seat is not the normal seating position so for daily use, the 2-3 inch gap between the seat and cargo cover will always be there.
I know there are some differences between the Jazz/Fit seats. Any idea whether the seat covers would work (and not bunch or sag due to differences)?
I also like the looks of the ceiling console available here: www.honda.ie/imgLib/honda2004/Jazz_accessory_brochure.pdf If it weren't for the fact that I would have to cut into the headliner to install it, I would have already have ordered it.
Only problem is that FIT seats have Air Bags in the side back. Jazz seats do not (I believe). Therefore, these covers would block the air bags unless you cut appropriate openings. It is only a matter of time before good custom seat covers will be available aftermarket in US, with the cut outs required for air bags.
Fits and Jazzes sold in developed markets have side airbags on most, if not all the trim lines. Those side airbags are all located in the same spot...in the seatback.
I noticed that my Fit's rear window was dirty, so I squirted the washer fluid, then turned on the wiper. Oddly enough, I could see in the rear view mirror that the wiper was wiping but nothing was happening to the liquid. When I was able to stop and take a look, I found that the washer fluid nozzle had fallen inside the car, so the washer fluid I saw was running down the inside of my back window. I am far from amused.
I use the tailgate a lot, but I don't slam it or abuse it an any way. I can't wait for this conversation with the dealership as soon as service opens this morning -- the same dealership that managed to wreck the first car that I ordered during PDI.
Could someone who got the all weather floor mats post pics of how they look in the car, installed - I am wondering about how much of the carpet they cover. thx
My local locksmith quoted me $65 for the key so at least that's an option. At least the car's not so easily stolen, that did reassure me a bit but I still had an alarm put in anyway (after 3 weeks).
I'm really over the hubcaps too, I've actually become quite self conscious since my sister called the wheels donuts. But I think I'm just gonna try getting some alloys down the line.
Hello: Does anyone know if accessories purchased in the States will work in a 2007 Fit (Canadian Model) ? I am interested in rear bumper Applique, Cargo cover, All weather floor mats. Even after figuring the difference with the dollar exchange, these items are still less than two thirds of our Canadian dealers price. Thanks for any help.
Hello: Can anyone reccomend a Honda dealer or any other sources to buy Genuine Honda accessories near Great Falls or Spokane. Preferably with a web site. Thankyou.

I would like to know if Honda Jazz visors will fit on the Honda Fit 2007?
I will post photos of my FIT on the Photos thread.
