2010 Grand Cherokee Sluggish Climbing Up Hills

Over the course of a day or two, my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee essentially lost the majority of its go power. Whenever I try to climb a hill, it loses speed until eventually it's at a crawl, even if I press all the way down on the accelerator.

I have an oil leak on the front seal but I don't lose that much oil. My transmission isn't making any weird sounds but if I downshift to 2nd or 1st (it's a 3.7 auto) then the engine / tranny gets loud and it still doesn't accelerate any quicker.

The oil doesn't smell like rotten eggs. I checked the dipstick and it's clean and doesn't smell burnt. The tranny fluid looks fine as does the radiator fluid.

Thoughts? Ideas?

I would try to pull trouble codes with a scan tool or code reader and see if you have a misfire. If you are missing one cylinder that would certainly cause this problem.

A clogged catalytic converter could also be an issue.

Do you have any upper engine noises? The 3.7 is notorious for rocker arm issues (oiling issues and sludge).

I would certainly have the engine checked out by a mechanic, sooner than later, especially if your engine is over the 75,000 mile mark.
