Lease Return With Minor Damage
My car has a dent that clearly is "too big." Say it will cost "$1000" to repair. I also want to avoid any shell game tactics where the dealer agrees to take the car back as is but just moves the repair bill into the price of the car.

I have read everything from, "The dealer will take it back if you are buying a car from them. No questions asked," to, "Not a chance. They will stick you with the repair bill and it will cost twice what you think."

Dealers don't control your lease end charges, unless they take your car in trade. Even if they do that, any damage will lower the value of your car.
You'll get an independent inspection before lease-end, and the inspector will detail the results at the time of that inspection.
