How to check timing 2006 Chevy Colorado 2.8L DOC

Is there a way to check the timing on this vehicle without pulling the engine apart to see the marks and chain? And is there a way to know if passlock is working for sure? Thanks to all for your time.

    You (or a technician) can use a pressure inducer method and the scope will show if timing is off relative to when the spark fires.

    What's wrong with passlock? Does it occasionally keep you from starting the truck for 10 minutes or so?
