How To Buy Without a Face to Face

I'm thinking about buying a car from a private seller who lives on the other side of the country. I plan to have the car inspected by someone locally. But I'm wondering how the buying transaction would work if I don't meet the seller face to face. How would I pay for the car and be sure that I actually get the car, the title and a bill of sale? I'm trying to avoid a ripoff! Thanks!

You are right to be worried.

Are you going to have the car shipped?

Not something I would do, but we have some members that have experience. Let's see if we can get you some advice.
