How To Buy Without a Face to Face

I'm thinking about buying a car from a private seller who lives on the other side of the country. I plan to have the car inspected by someone locally. But I'm wondering how the buying transaction would work if I don't meet the seller face to face. How would I pay for the car and be sure that I actually get the car, the title and a bill of sale? I'm trying to avoid a ripoff! Thanks!
