Have a friend who wants to buy my end-of-lease 2016 Explorer. How can I do this without paying sales tax twice (I buy then 're-sell' it. Called Ford Leasing and they said all transactions now have to go through the dealership I got it from (FLA), OR....can I use it as a trade-in (if value is less than wholesale) at another mfg?

The only way you can do it, is if you can find a dealer to agree to do a pass-through deal. Not likely they would do it, unless you are buying another car, and even then, they'll probably add fees.
