I have a 2010 chevy impala that the transmission has been shifting into drive hard . I was driving it home from work the other day the transmission just quit working , so i shut it off and restarted it after a bit then it would drive for just a little ways and quit again then i would shut it off and restart and go a ways again i did this repeatedly until i made it home which was about 6 miles i heard a pretty loud grinding coming from somewhere, Does anyone know what the problem can be I have seen alot on here about the transmissions in these cars what the heck

At the very least you should drop the transmission oil pan and check for debris. Grinding noises are not a good sign. Pulling codes from the TCM might help.
