Best Compact or Subcompact SUV With the Smoothest Ride

Hello, I'm looking to buy a compact or subcompact (preferably) car that has a smooth ride. I'm having an extremely hard time doing this. Can anyone suggest or does anyone know what may be the one with the smoothest ride? That's really my primary criteria (besides it being a compact or subcompact SUV).

    Short wheelbase = rougher ride

    Not much way around that.

    Equinox rides pretty smoothly. Toyota is usually a smooth ride as well in small sizes.
