I was offered a price of $38,000 (before tax and tags) for a new 2019 Highlander XLE AWD. In Philadelphia area. Good price?

I was offered a price of $35,900 (before tax and tags) for a new 2018 Highlander XLE AWD. Thoughts?

Also, what is a reasonable geographic area for a dealer to attempt to locate and trade for a vehicle? The dealer didn't have the color I wanted for the 2018 and I gave a deposit for them to try locate the vehicle. There was no geographic limitation in the contract. They are now saying they can't find it anywhere nearby.

Thanks.

A dealer probably isn't going to look for a vehicle farther than a couple of hours away. It's possible they won't look at other dealers, at all, and are only watching the regional inventory reports. Ask for your deposit back, and shop around.
