Whining noise in Toyota 6 cldr (ca 2007) used in RAV4 and other models

Have a whining noise in this 2007 vehicle, which has been there from day one (now 156000 mi). A buyer is wary of this noise. Have a very knowledge wise mechanic, and his brother,that say this is not a problem, and is not ID'd to the engine itself. Other opinions are power steering motor, and some pump noise, including AC. Has anyone nailed down this item?? Toyota says not a problem, but with no explanation.

    Seems to me that if you've had the noise since the car was new, and if your mechanic has listened to it and says it doesn't sound serious----then the buyer is worrying too much. 156K is a whole lotta miles, and your buyer needs to lower their expectations about every little noise.
