Come tax time I will be in the market for another dodge, I'm looking for a truck not a suv, if you know anybody or you are trying to get rid of a truck for 1,000 or less please let me know. I'm trying to get a reliable truck for my girlfriend so she can get to and from work safely. Serious inquires only. I'm not rich by any means so any help with this would be beyond greatly appreciated thank you

I would say you're going to have to spend at least $2,000 for an old truck, and even then, it will probably need a few things to achieve your goal of "safe and reliable". It'll also have a lot of miles on it. You'd be better off saving up for something better than putting down $1,000 for a pile of junk that you'll just have to spend money on anyway (or jump start for your GF!)
I searched a long, long time to find a Dodge Dakota for $1,800, and even though it was pretty clean and a 4X4, I had to do a ball joint, two tie rods, a valve cover gasket and a serpentine belt. Also fixed the glove box latch and padded up a broken down driver's seat. So really it was a $2,500 truck--but it's been good ever since.5
