Gas release latch is rusted shut on rsx, can't open it!

Hello everyone, I am going to need to gas up my new rsx soon and didn't realise before buying that the gas release next to me seat is rusted and won't move and I therefore I can't open the gas cover to fill up , I don't know what to do to make it budge, what's the best course of action so that I can just have this latch work and get some gas into my car

You might check to see if there is some kind of emergency release accessible from the trunk?

If not, you might try to spray some PB Blaster or other rust penetrant into the release lever--don't force it!
