Gas in a 1980 Mercedes 300sd

Gas attendant put 6 gal of gas in my empty fuel tank what will happen. I did drive it about a mile and it sputtered then died so started smelling gas so got it stared and drove back to the station couldn’t let off the pedal or it would die so to to the station got it situated but I had to move it so tried starting it and nothing at all it is at the shop but just need to know what will happen to it thanks

    It depends on how far you drove it and what speeds. In any event, it's not a good situation, as the gasoline acts as a solvent inside your diesel engine, and internal damage could result. It's worse to add gas to a diesel car than adding diesel to a gas car. The gas station might be held responsible, so save all your receipts and make a log of dates and time when everything happened.
